Role description
The Epic Data Engineer works collaboratively with architects, business intelligence developers, data analysts, and data scientists to build and maintain analytics solutions across both on-premises and cloud-based platforms. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines and data architectures that transform complex healthcare data into reliable, accessible datasets that support reporting, analytics, and business decision-making.
The ideal candidate is an experienced data engineer with strong programming skills, expertise in Epic reporting databases, and a passion for building scalable data solutions.

• Caboodle Data Model
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain ETL/ELT processes across multiple data sources and platforms.
• Build and optimize scalable data pipelines and data integration solutions.
• Provide operational support and troubleshooting for data warehouses, datasets, and data pipelines.
• Collaborate with data consumers to identify data requirements, available sources, and potential data quality concerns.
• Participate in the design, development, and implementation of conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Follow Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) best practices to ensure high-quality, reliable data assets.
• Ensure compliance with organizational standards and regulations related to Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
• Develop and maintain CI/CD processes to improve deployment efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to backlog grooming, sprint planning, and technical solution design.
• Mentor and support junior and mid-level team members.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience developing, supporting, and implementing applications or data solutions.
• Strong programming experience with the ability to develop, test, and support enterprise data solutions.
• Experience working throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including coding, testing, deployment, and support.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently within a diverse technology environment.
