Epic/Cerner Report Writer

Position Overview Healthcare IT Leaders is seeking an experienced an Epic/Cerner Report Writer for a 6-month remote contract engagement supporting a health system client. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Epic's reporting environment — including Cogito, Clarity, and SlicerDicer — and adds value through working knowledge of Cerner CCL report development. This role sits at the intersection of clinical operations and data intelligence, translating complex business and clinical requirements into actionable, high-quality reporting solutions. Responsibilities • Design, build, and validate reports and dashboards within Epic Cogito and the Clarity data model, aligned to operational and clinical stakeholder requirements • Write and optimize SQL queries against the Epic Clarity database, ensuring accuracy, performance, and data integrity • Develop and maintain Crystal Reports, Reporting Workbench (RWB), and SlicerDicer configurations to support end-user self-service reporting • Collaborate with analysts, clinical informatics teams, and IT leadership to translate business requirements into technical reporting specifications • Apply Cerner CCL programming expertise to support legacy report migration, cross-platform analysis, or dual-EHR reporting scenarios as needed • Conduct thorough testing, validation, and documentation of all reporting deliverables in accordance with client standards • Participate in working sessions, status calls, and sprint reviews as part of an agile or project-based delivery model • Identify data quality issues and partner with relevant teams to drive resolution Required Qualifications • 3+ years of hands-on Epic Cogito and Clarity report development experience within a health system or consulting environment • Proficiency in SQL with demonstrated ability to write complex queries against the Epic Clarity schema • Working knowledge of Epic Reporting Workbench (RWB), SlicerDicer, and Crystal Reports • Strong understanding of Epic's data model, including Chronicles-to-Clarity ETL processes • Experience with Cerner CCL (Cerner Command Language) for report development and data extraction • Ability to work independently in a remote, client-facing delivery environment with minimal supervision • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders Preferred Qualifications • Epic Cogito certification or Epic Clarity Data Model certification • Experience with Business Objects (BOBJ) or other BI reporting platforms used in healthcare settings • Background in healthcare revenue cycle, clinical documentation, or population health data domains • Familiarity with FHIR-based data or exposure to healthcare data warehousing concepts • Prior experience in a staffing, advisory, or consulting delivery model Contract Details • Duration: 6 months • Location: Remote • Start: Immediate About Healthcare IT Leaders Healthcare IT Leaders is a full-service healthcare IT workforce solutions firm founded in 2011, serving 400+ hospital and health system clients nationwide.
