Role description
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Business Analyst to support the successful implementation of a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system across the organisation. This role will play a key part in delivering digital transformation initiatives that improve patient care, operational efficiency, and clinical workflows.
Working closely with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders, the Business Analyst will gather requirements, analyse existing processes, support solution design, and ensure business needs are translated effectively into system functionality during all phases of the EPR programme lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Lead requirements gathering workshops with clinical, operational, and corporate teams
β’ Analyse current (βas-isβ) and future (βto-beβ) business processes
β’ Document functional and non-functional requirements for EPR configuration and integration
β’ Produce high-quality project documentation including:
β’ Business requirements documents (BRDs)
β’ Process maps
β’ User stories
β’ Gap analyses
β’ Workflow diagrams
β’ Standard operating procedures
β’ Support EPR system design, testing, training, and deployment activities
β’ Work collaboratively with clinicians, SMEs, suppliers, and technical teams
β’ Assist with data migration, reporting requirements, and interoperability discussions
β’ Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) and defect resolution tracking
β’ Identify risks, issues, and dependencies impacting programme delivery
β’ Support change management and adoption activities across departments
β’ Ensure compliance with NHS digital, information governance, and clinical safety standards
Qualifications & Experience
β’ Degree-level qualification or equivalent relevant experience
β’ Proven experience working as a Business Analyst on large-scale digital transformation projects
β’ Experience supporting EPR / EMR / PAS implementations within healthcare environments
β’ Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid)
β’ Experience facilitating stakeholder workshops and requirements elicitation
β’ Ability to produce clear and structured business analysis documentation
Skills & Knowledge
β’ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
β’ Process mapping experience using Visio or similar tools
β’ Knowledge of NHS operational and clinical workflows
β’ Experience working within the National Health Service
β’ Knowledge of EPR platforms such as Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, Rio, Lorenzo, or System C
β’ Business Analysis certification (BCS, CBAP, PMI-PBA, Agile BA)
β’ Experience in acute, community, or mental health healthcare settings
β’ Understanding of interoperability standards such as HL7 or FHIR
