Role description
Location – Portland, OR(Hybrid) / REMOTE Experience - 10+ Years We are seeking a results-driven and analytical Data Engineer. This role will focus on measuring, analyzing, and improving clinical, operational, and financial outcomes across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in healthcare analytics, outcomes measurement, and performance improvement to help drive data-informed strategies that enhance member health and organizational effectiveness. Key Responsibilities • Data profiling to identify primary keys and issues with the data. • Write ETL to bring data onto the Data Platform, de-duplicate data, create or update dimensional data structures, and produce use case-specific output. • Unit testing, functional testing, and performance testing and tuning. • Interacting with the Product team to understand and refine requirements. • Interacting with QA to address reported findings. • Working individually and as a team to achieve our goals. • Taking initiative to take on additional work if the present work stream slows down. • Mentor junior team members and help to bring new team members onto the team • Other similar or related activities. MUST HAVE – Healthcare, SQL, Python, DBT, Snowflake • Proficient in data engineering and data pipeline development, testing, documentation, deployment, and support. • SQL: Highly skilled to expert level. • Must be familiar with common table elements (CTEs), complex joins, and analytic & windowing functions. • Snowflake: • Prefer candidates with real-world experience using Snowflake. • Data Profiling: • Must be able to identify unique and primary keys and determine cardinality, data type, precision, and scale, and skew. • Effective communication skills to communicate internally within our team and externally across other teams, notably Product and QA • Understands the scope and context of the work and takes initiative to achieve the goals, rather than waiting to take specific direction. Preferred Skills • Healthcare Industry Experience: Some experience is desired, preferably Payer experience. • Data Modeling Experience desired. Specific technologies/proficiency • SQL: Highly skilled to expert level. • Python: Some experience is required with a preference for intermediate or higher skill. • DBT: Prefer candidates with real-world DBT experience. • Snowflake: Prefer candidates with real-world experience using Snowflake.
