Location: Preferred Salt Lake City, UT but remote is ok within Southern CA, UT, NV, AZ, CO
Duration: Contract-to-Hire
Visa: Due to customer contractual requirements, U.S. Citizens and Green Card holders who are eligible to convert to full-time employment.
Rate: $53 - $58/hr
Conversion Salary: $100K - $115K
A growing enterprise data team is seeking a skilled ETL Developer to support large-scale data warehousing and analytics initiatives. This opportunity is based in Midvale/Salt Lake City, UT with remote flexibility across Southern CA, UT, NV, AZ, and CO. The role focuses heavily on ETL development, Greenplum database processing, advanced SQL optimization, and Unix/Linux scripting within an Agile/Scrum environment. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with strong long-term potential and possible conversion after six months. Due to customer contractual requirements, this position is limited to U.S. Citizens and Green Card holders who are eligible to convert to full-time employment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a data engineer who enjoys building scalable, high-performance data pipelines in a collaborative enterprise environment. You'll work alongside business analysts, architects, and engineering teams on large-scale data initiatives while gaining exposure to modern ETL practices, Agile delivery, performance optimization, and production support. The role offers strong stability through the end of 2026 with extension potential and a clear pathway to permanent employment.
Contract Duration: 6 – 18+ Months
Required Skills & Experience
· 5+ years of ETL/ELT development experience
· Strong hands-on experience with IBM DataStage or similar ETL tools
· Advanced SQL development and query optimization skills
· Experience working with Greenplum or other MPP databases
· Strong Unix/Linux command line and shell scripting experience
· Experience with Control-M or similar scheduling/orchestration tools
· Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts including fact/dimension modeling and star schema
· Experience building scalable and maintainable data pipelines
· Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
· Ability to troubleshoot production ETL and database issues effectively
· Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to convert to full-time employment
Desired Skills & Experience
· Experience with CI/CD and development lifecycle best practices
· Experience participating in code reviews and documentation processes
· Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and business stakeholders
· Experience working in enterprise-scale data environments
· Exposure to data quality and integrity management practices
· Ability to work independently in a remote environment
· Experience documenting workflows and feature designs
· Knowledge of performance tuning for ETL pipelines and databases
