Role description
Junior ETL Developer Lansing, MI (2 days onsite, 3 days remote) 12 month contract, likelihood of permanent placement Starting at $25/hr We are seeking an entry-level Database Modeler & ETL Developer to join our public sector client! This role is pivotal in designing robust database models that adhere to audit separation of duties requirements, developing efficient ETL processes, and ensuring the integrity and performance of our data systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in SQL, ETL processes, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to data governance. You will be engaging in our early-talent program and also receive on the job technical training, professional development/military transition assistant Key Responsibilities Database Modeling & Documentation • Design & Development: Collaborate with team members to draft technical database models that comply with audit separation of duties requirements, capturing comprehensive data element specifications. • Collaboration: Work closely with data modelers to design data elements that best meet application needs, ensuring alignment with business objectives. • Review & Approval: Review and approve updates to systems documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness. • Standards Enforcement: Develop and enforce database standards and guidelines to maintain consistency and quality across the data architecture. • Security & Compliance: Implement data governance and security policies to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. ETL Development & Data Integration • ETL Process Design: Design and develop Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to move data from various operational systems into a cleansed, consolidated data warehouse. • Tool Utilization: Utilize Teradata development tools and ETL systems to streamline data integration and ensure efficient data flow. • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize ETL workflows to ensure scalability and efficiency, troubleshooting any issues or bottlenecks. • Data Quality Assurance: Profile and analyze data to identify and resolve quality issues, implementing data validation and error handling routines. Testing & Security Integration • Test Plan Development: Review and approve test plans, incorporating all levels of security identified as system requirements into the testing process. • Security Integration: Ensure that all ETL processes and database models integrate necessary security measures, adhering to best practices and compliance standards. Collaboration & Communication • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with developers and end-user query developers to design and improve database queries, ensuring optimal performance and usability. • Process Standardization: Evaluate and identify opportunities for programming process or tools standardization, promoting efficiency and consistency across the team. • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and clarify data requirements, translating them into technical specifications. Required Qualifications • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.; OR Associates in IT and 2 YOE; OR 4 YOE • Technical Skills: SQL Database, SQL Development, SQL Assistant, Unix Shell Scripting, Python, Teradata, Azure DevOps, ETL Processes • Security Knowledge: Understanding of data governance and best practices for data management, with a focus on compliance and security. • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. Preferred Qualifications • Certifications: Teradata certification is a plus. • Additional Skills: • Experience with cloud-based database solutions such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud Spanner. • Familiarity with both relational and NoSQL databases. • Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations.
