Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric Leading Data Consultancy Boston Preferred - Remote Considered 6 month contract $60ph The Role A well-established data consultancy are recruiting a contractor for a mid-level Data Engineer for a Microsoft Fabric implementation. You'll be part of a delivery team working across a technically varied programme with good potential to grow over time. The Project The client is migrating to Microsoft Fabric across three areas — platform architecture, early-stage POCs, and cost & governance reporting. Their current environment includes MySQL, SQL Server, Snowflake, and Oracle, plus a move from Tableau to Power BI. What You'll Be Doing • Building pipelines, lakehouses, and data warehouse objects within Fabric • Migrating and integrating data from multiple source systems • Contributing to POC delivery and Tableau-to-Power BI reporting migration • Supporting governance and cost reporting outputs • Writing documentation and working alongside senior engineers and client stakeholders Essential Skills • Hands on Microsoft Fabric experience • Strong SQL skills across any of MySQL, SQL Server, Snowflake, or Oracle • Python or Spark for data transformation • Familiarity with lakehouse architecture and pipeline development • Some Power BI experience, ideally within Fabric Desirable • Microsoft certification (DP-600, DP-700, or Azure Data Engineer Associate) • Azure ecosystem exposure — Purview, ADLS Gen2, Synapse • Consultancy or client-facing background • Tableau familiarity and/or DevOps awareness Location Remote considered, though there's a strong preference for someone Boston based who can be onsite when needed.
