Role description
The Finance Systems Analyst (SME) is responsible for supporting the implementation, optimisation and ongoing operational running of Northern Powergrid’s Oracle Fusion ERP platform. This role acts as a key functional link between Finance, IT and wider business stakeholders, ensuring Oracle Fusion accurately supports core finance processes, reporting, reconciliations and control requirements. The role is finance‑led, with a strong emphasis on data quality, ledger integrity, journals, reconciliations and actionable reporting. The postholder will contribute to continuous improvement of end‑to‑end finance processes, support system enhancements, participate in testing and problem solving activities, and ensure Oracle Fusion is used effectively and consistently across the business. Along with a competitive salary of £39,571 – £45,049, we also offer great benefits such as; • £4,000 retention bonus • Enrolment into the company pension scheme • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Key Responsibilities • Support designated aspects of the Oracle Fusion ERP lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design walkthroughs, testing cycles and go‑live readiness. • Work with Finance stakeholders to understand business processes and translate requirements into practical system, reporting and data solutions. • Support and contribute to finance process analysis, identifying critical paths, control points and opportunities for improvement. • Assist with the creation and delivery of finance workshops, walkthroughs and system demonstrations during implementation and enhancement activity. • Provide day‑to‑day functional support to Finance users, including query resolution, troubleshooting and best‑practice guidance. • Act as a first line functional SME, triaging issues and escalating to IT or external partners where required. • Support ledger structures, journal processes and reconciliations, ensuring data accuracy, integrity and alignment to finance controls. • Contribute to data migration activities, including mapping, validation and reconciliation. • Participate in system testing (UAT), including scenario creation, test execution, issue investigation and defect support. • Support the creation, maintenance and enhancement of finance reports and data outputs, ensuring reports are accurate, timely and actionable. • Maintain documentation covering processes, controls, configurations and reporting logic. • Ensure system and data readiness to support period‑end and year‑end close activities. Key Competencies • Finance‑led analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and control. • Ability to make sense of business intent and translate it into system enabled solutions. • Comfortable working with transactional finance data and reconciliations. • Collaborative approach, building effective working relationships across Finance, IT and programme teams. • Organised, methodical and able to manage multiple priorities. • Proactive and improvement‑driven, with a practical approach to problem solving. • Resilient and adaptable, comfortable working through change and delivery activity. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required Essential • Strong finance background with practical experience in core finance processes such as GL, journals, reconciliations and period end close. • Experience working as a finance SME or analyst within a systems‑enabled environment. • Hands-on experience supporting finance reporting and data analysis, with the ability to produce actionable insight. • Experience participating in testing cycles (UAT, finance system testing or reconciliation testing). • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a keen eye for detail and data accuracy. • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools. • Ability to communicate clearly with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders. • Educated to A‑Level standard (or equivalent), with a minimum of two A‑Levels Desirable • Experience working with Oracle Fusion ERP, particularly Finance modules (GL, AP, AR, FA, CM, Projects). • Exposure to Oracle E‑Business Suite or similar finance platforms. • Experience supporting reporting tools such as OTBI, BI Publisher or Smart View. • Experience working within a large, complex or regulated organisation. • Part‑qualified or qualified accountant, or equivalent practical finance experience.
