Role description
Job Title: FinOps Engineer / Specialty Software Engineer Duration: 12-Month Contract (Strong Conversion Potential) Location: Chandler, AZ or Irving, TX (3 Days/Week Onsite) Job Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced FinOps Engineer to lead cloud and infrastructure cost optimization initiatives across a large enterprise environment. This role will partner closely with Engineering, Architecture, Finance, and executive leadership to drive cost transparency, forecasting, governance, and operational efficiency. Key Requirements: • 6–10+ years of Cloud, Platform, or Infrastructure Engineering experience • Proven FinOps expertise with cloud cost management, optimization, forecasting, chargeback/showback, and cost governance • Hands-on experience with Azure and GCP billing, cost allocation, and optimization • Experience managing on-prem, hybrid, and multi-cloud infrastructure costs • Strong automation skills using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar • Experience building automated cost controls, alerts, guardrails, and remediation workflows • Exposure to AI-assisted FinOps, anomaly detection, and automated cost insights • Expertise in tagging, governance, budgeting, forecasting, and spend analytics • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present cost-saving strategies and executive-level dashboards Preferred: • Kubernetes/container cost optimization • FinOps Foundation Certification • Experience with enterprise FinOps platforms and large-scale cloud environments • Strong background working directly with Finance and CTO-level stakeholders Ideal Candidate: A true FinOps specialist who can proactively identify savings opportunities, establish FinOps best practices, drive infrastructure cost accountability, and influence engineering decisions through data-driven insights.
