Freelance DevOps Engineer

This remote, part-time contract role focuses on integrating and securing cloud infrastructure for a high-demand environment. The position centers on deploying and hardening AWS EKS stacks, implementing zero-trust security protocols, and ensuring robust observability and reliability. The ideal candidate will leverage advanced DevOps and SRE practices to optimize multi-tenant workloads, automate infrastructure provisioning, and maintain high standards of security and performance. Deliverables • Provision and manage AWS EKS clusters using Terraform • Deploy and configure Istio with mTLS for secure service mesh communication • Implement and manage Kafka/StatefulSets within Kubernetes • Set up and maintain Prometheus and Grafana dashboards with performance-based SLOs • Deploy agents via DaemonSets for monitoring and logging • Enforce security protocols including mTLS and AppArmor • Optimize infrastructure for reliability, scalability, and security in a multi-tenant environment • Integrate and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions Requirements • Proven experience with Kubernetes and AWS EKS • Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) • Hands-on knowledge of Istio, mTLS, and service mesh security • Experience with Kafka, StatefulSets, and agent deployments in Kubernetes • Proficiency in observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry • Familiarity with security hardening (AppArmor, zero-trust principles) • Ability to design and monitor SLOs for high-availability systems • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting • Availability for part-time, contract-based work About Twine Twine is a leading freelance marketplace connecting top freelancers, consultants, and contractors with companies needing creative and tech expertise.
