Job Title : Front Office Analyst Developer Location : Chicago, IL 60606 (Onsite) Duration : 12+ months Role Summary :We are seeking an experienced Front Office Analyst Developer with at least 5+ years of trading-floor experience to act as the primary bridge between our commercial trading desks in Chicago (and Houston) and our global Trading Analytics Technology teams in London and Pune .This role is critical in driving product adoption, supporting front-office analytics workflows, gathering user feedback, and ensuring our trading teams are equipped with the tools and training they need. You will combine strong analytical and engineering skills with excellent user interaction, product evangelism, and stakeholder management .To maintain strong trading-floor presence, this is an office-based role Monday–Thursday every week . Key Responsibilitie s: User Enablement & Product Adopt • ionBecome a super-user of Trading Analytics technology products and platforms, with deep knowledge of their capabilities, limitations, and best-practice workflo • ws.Deliver structured training, onboarding sessions, refreshers, and tailored coaching to Chicago and Houston use • rs.Promote upcoming features, releases, and enhancements, ensuring the front office understands and adopts new capabiliti • es.Serve as the first point of contact for high-touch trading workflows, escalating appropriately to global technology tea ms. Front Office Analysis & Light Enginee • ringBuild small-scale analytical utilities and workflow enhancements using Python, Excel/VBA, and • SQL.Pull, analyse, and visualise large data sets—including price, forward curves, fundamentals, and market data—via SQL, Dataiku, APIs, and internal ma • rts.Create dashboards and analytical tools using Power BI, Plotly, and other visualisation framewo • rks.Reverse-engineer existing spreadsheet logic and help migrate critical workflows into more stable, maintainable soluti • ons.Build lightweight integration utilities between local tools and global technology platforms and produ cts. Cross-Location Collabor • ationAct as Chicago’s representative to global product teams in London and Pune, building a strong network of engineers, analysts, and product ow • ners.Provide clear, structured feedback on user demand, pain points, and workflow gaps to influence the product roa • dmap.Participate in agile ceremonies—stand-ups, planning, refinement—to help translate user needs into actionable requirem • ents.Document workflows, solution approaches, design sketches, and acceptance-criteria evid ence. Essential Experience & • Skills5+ years of hands-on trading-floor experience in analytics, risk, or front-office techn • ology.Background in energy or commodities trading, with understanding of price data, curves, fundamentals, and market anal • ytics.Strong working knowledge of Python (essen • tial).Practical experience with Excel/VBA, SQL, and large-scale data • sets.Experience with Power BI, Plotly, and ideally Da • taiku.Familiarity with APIs, data pipelines, and integrating multiple data so • urces.Strong communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management s • kills.Comfortable operating in a fast-paced front-office environment with frequent context swit • ching.Degree in a quantitative or analytical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Maths, CS, Fin ance). Desirable • SkillsExperience in commodity trading analytics, supply/demand modelling, or risk s • ystems.Exposure to ETL concepts and workflow orchest • ration.Awareness of AWS, SQL Server, or cloud-based analytics pla • tforms.Experience with Excel add-ins is useful but not re quired.
