Contract Developer – Defence Sector (3-Month Initial Contract, Inside IR35) Location: Hybrid – 1–2 days per week on-site in Hertfordshire, Bristol, or Greater Manchester Duration: Initial 3 months (potential extensions) Engagement: Inside IR35 Clearance: Must have active UK SC Clearance About the Opportunity: We’re working with a major technology services provider to support a leading UK defence organisation as they build out an internal application development capability. The team focuses on delivering rapid, fit-for-purpose applications—often completed in under 40 days—to meet evolving business needs. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced developers who thrive in light-touch agile environments, enjoy autonomy, and can take ownership of small, end-to-end software projects. What You’ll Be Doing • Develop and deliver small-scale applications and tools (ranging from spreadsheet-based solutions to fully fledged web apps). • Work with business stakeholders to design, build, document, and hand over applications within tight timeframes. • Contribute to a collaborative, fast-moving delivery culture, focused on outcomes and quality. • Apply your technical expertise to help shape best practices for rapid application delivery. Technical Skills (mix of the following is ideal) • .NET / C# • Angular • Python • Power BI (for data visualisation and dashboards) • Java (occasional use) • Familiarity with tools and frameworks that enable rapid prototyping and iterative development What We’re Looking For • Proven experience delivering small-scale or rapid development projects end-to-end. • Ability to work independently, yet collaboratively within a cross-functional team. • Excellent communication and documentation skills. • Must hold (or be eligible for) UK SC Clearance. • Flexibility to be on-site 1–2 days per week as required.
