Location: Houston (Hybrid – ~80% onsite)Duration: 4-Month Contract
Overview
We are seeking a Fundamental Modeling Analyst to join a high-impact Trading Analytics & Insights team supporting Gas & Power Trading across North America.
This role sits at the intersection of quantitative modeling, data science, and trading, focused on building predictive models and actionable insights that directly influence trading strategies and commercial outcomes.
You’ll work closely with traders, analysts, and strategists in a fast-paced, data-rich environment to solve complex market problems.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuantitative Modeling & Data Science
Develop and deploy machine learning and regression models
Analyze large, complex datasets to generate trading insights
Build scalable models to support fundamental energy market analysis
Trading & Business Collaboration
Partner directly with traders and business stakeholders
Translate business needs into analytical models and data solutions
Deliver commercially actionable insights
Data Analysis & Engineering
Work extensively with Python (pandas, numpy, sklearn)
Manipulate and process large datasets from multiple sources
Support development of data-driven trading strategies
Innovation & Problem Solving
Identify new modeling approaches and analytical techniques
Continuously improve models and methodologies
Contribute to a culture of innovation and experimentation
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in STEM or quantitative field
3–5 years of experience in:
Machine learning / regression modeling
Data science or quantitative analysis
Strong experience with:
Python (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn)
Large dataset manipulation and analysis
Proven ability to:
Work with business stakeholders (traders preferred)
Deliver data-driven insights
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in energy trading or commodities markets:
Oil, Gas, LNG, Power, Low-carbon markets
Understanding of:
Supply & demand fundamentals
Physical + financial trading instruments
Experience working in:
Trading environments
Market analytics / forecasting
