Role description
Role Overview We are seeking a GCP-focused Cloud Architect to guide our cloud strategy, architecture, and governance across the enterprise. This individual contributor role combines architectural leadership, cloud management, FinOps, and the design of secure, scalable cloud solutions that support our health insurance operations and digital capabilities. Key Responsibilities • Develop and maintain enterprise cloud architecture standards, reference architectures, and reusable patterns for GCP. • Partner with Engineering, Security, and Data teams to design cloud-enabled applications and data solutions using core GCP services (e.g., GKE/Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud SQL/Spanner, VPC). • Define landing zone architecture, including network segmentation, IAM models, security controls, tagging standards, and resource lifecycle policies. • Guide teams on cloud service selection, solution trade-offs, performance considerations, and best practices for resiliency and scalability. • Lead cloud governance activities: architecture reviews, policy adherence, configuration baselines, and alignment with compliance requirements (HIPAA/HITRUST). • Drive FinOps practices—monitoring spend, analyzing cost drivers, establishing cost allocation models, and recommending optimizations. • Support cloud roadmap planning, modernization initiatives, and migration of legacy workloads to GCP. • Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to evaluate emerging GCP services and enable appropriate adoption. Qualifications • 5–7+ years in cloud architecture or senior cloud engineering roles, with solid hands-on experience in cloud – GCP preferred. • Working knowledge of key GCP services across compute, networking, storage, and data platforms (e.g., GKE, Cloud Run, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, VPC networking). • Experience with cloud governance structures, IAM models, landing zone design, and security hardening. • Practical understanding of FinOps principles: cost visibility, budgeting, right-sizing, commitment planning, and cloud usage optimization. • Familiarity with modern architecture approaches (APIs, microservices, containers, event-driven patterns). • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without authority. • Healthcare or health insurance experience is a plus. • GCP certifications (Professional Cloud Architect or Data Engineer) preferred but not required.
