Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer
- Hands-on experience with GCP data services, including BigQuery and related tools
- Strong expertise with SQL ability to write complex queries
- Previous experience with Teradata
- Familiarity with AI/ML tools or platforms that support code translation, refactoring, or performance tuning such as Copilot or Cursor AI

Day to Day
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a high-impact cloud migration project for a leading healthcare insurance client. This role will be instrumental in transitioning a complex data ecosystem from Teradata to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a focus on BigQuery. The environment includes thousands of legacy SQL statements written in Teradata that must be carefully analyzed, translated, and optimized for migration to GCP using BigQuery. The ideal candidate will not only have deep technical expertise in SQL and cloud data platforms but also a forward-thinking mindset to explore and implement AI-powered tools that can accelerate and automate parts of the migration process. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a strategic modernization effort that will improve scalability, performance, and long-term data agility for the client. There is another effort happening in tandem where this team is reverse engineering one of the existing reports that is going to be rebuild in another application owned by a different team. This Data Engineer may be involved in writing SQL documentation to build the data layer of this report as it migrates.
