Role description
An AI-focused organization is building a startup-style AI incubator and is looking for an AI Innovation Engineer to help bring bold, industry-shaping ideas to life. This team functions as an internal AI innovation hub, responsible for researching, prototyping, and building reusable, production-grade AI frameworks that can be co-invested in with pilot customers across Healthcare and BFSI. This is a highly hands-on, high-impact role with exposure across engineering, architecture, and customer-facing innovation. Day-to-day breakdown: • 60% Hands-on Engineering: Build production-grade AI/ML pipelines and reusable frameworks from scratch • 20% Forward-Deployed Engineering: Work directly with pilot customers as a technical point of contact to validate solutions and incorporate real-world feedback • 20% Architecture & Strategy: Design scalable solutions that can evolve from a single-client implementation into a reusable product offering Key Responsibilities - • Design and build industry-specific AI solutions from the ground up • Research, evaluate, and validate emerging AI technologies and services • Prototype and run feasibility experiments for complex, ambiguous problems • Build internal AI accelerators, tools, and reusable frameworks • Support delivery teams with deep AI/ML expertise and reduce technical risk • Maintain a validated library of next-generation AI capabilities • Improve internal operational efficiency through AI-driven tooling • Collaborate closely with AI Engineers, AI Product Managers, and business stakeholders • Join customer meetings as a technical expert to help solve real-world problems Required Skills & Experience - • 1–5 years of experience as a Data Scientist, AI Engineer, ML Engineer, or similar role within the data science/AI space • Proven ability to design and build production-grade AI/ML pipelines • Strong programming and system design skills, with hands-on experience creating scalable, reusable AI components from scratch • Proficiency in Python (additional languages a plus) • Hands-on experience writing SQL queries from scratch • Comfort working in greenfield environments with minimal constraints Who You Are - • Curious, creative, and energized by ambiguity • An “out-of-the-box” thinker who enjoys brainstorming and experimentation • Passionate about AI and staying on top of the latest technologies • Comfortable collaborating across engineering, product, and business teams • Someone who values personality, communication, and collaboration as much as technical skill Why Join? • Be part of a startup-style incubator within an established organization • Work on greenfield AI products with real market impact • Influence what AI solutions go to market next • Collaborate with highly skilled AI engineers and product leaders • Enjoy strong ownership, visibility, and room to innovate
