Role description
Position Summary
We are seeking a GIS Analyst/Specialist/Engineer (temporary contractor) to support enterprise asset management initiatives. This hybrid role (onsite with up to one remote day per week) involves improving data quality, developing GIS applications, and providing rail engineering data support across multiple agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain GIS applications, tools, and datasets to support business and engineering needs.
Perform data integration, transformation, and geo-analysis using ESRI tools and programming languages (Python, SQL).
Ensure data accuracy and quality control for all outputs.
Create analytical reports, dashboards, and visualizations (e.g., Power BI, GIS maps, automated reports).
Break down complex analytical requests into manageable technical tasks.
Document workflows, processes, and results for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Conduct statistical and spatial analyses to support decision-making.
Stay current with new GIS technologies, programming languages, and analytical methods.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with ESRI GIS platforms (ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise, Portal, ArcGIS Server), Hexagon, and Microsoft applications.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and automation.
Strong understanding of database design, data management, and geospatial analysis.
Experience with Experience Builder and Survey123 Connect.
Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools.
Analytical Skills: Knowledge of probability, statistics, and algorithm design.
Industry Knowledge: Understanding of transit and transportation systems, especially subway, bus, and rail networks.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communicationβable to convey complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management abilities.
Collaborative and self-motivated team player capable of managing projects.
Education: Bachelorβs degree in Engineering, Information Management, Statistics, Mathematics, or Transportation/Civil Engineering.
Preferred Attributes
Familiarity with KPI design and calculation.
Experience documenting data processes and performing QA/QC.
Ability to think strategically and align technical work with policy goals.
