Position: Open Source Developer
Referral Partner: Crossing Hurdles
Type: Hourly contract
Compensation: $90–$120 per hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week, flexible and asynchronous
Duration: Short-term, with potential for extension based on performance
Role Responsibilities
• Review, maintain, and troubleshoot live open-source repositories.
• Perform deep Git operations and help resolve repository issues without data loss.
• Conduct code reviews, validate pull requests, and ensure high-quality contributions to the repository.
• Debug repository states and fix broken histories.
• Write and review documentation for repository maintenance, including changelogs and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaborate with other engineers and developers to improve the codebase and address issues as they arise.
• Support AI/LLM evaluation (if applicable) by contributing to the review of model output related to open-source projects.
Ideal Qualifications
• Strong experience in open-source, backend, or DevOps roles.
• Demonstrated history of contributions to GitHub, GitLab, or other OSS platforms.
• Strong proficiency in Git and understanding of advanced Git operations.
• Experience debugging and troubleshooting live repositories and managing large-scale data operations.
• Knowledge of AI/LLM evaluation (a bonus).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to document and explain technical problems clearly.
• Familiarity with open-source community practices and contribution standards.
