Role description
Cloud Platform Software Engineer - Mobility (W-2 Contract / No Agencies)
β’ To meet the growing needs of the mobility business, the Cloud Platform team is looking for a highly motivated, technology focused individual with a passion to work on a collaborative software delivery team to enable the creation and management of Platforms and APIs deployed to the corporate mobility ecosystem.
β’ End-to-end responsibility for the software services involving greater customer experiences and the platform supporting those experiences.
Candidate Attributes:
β’ Strong technical acumen in cloud computing platforms and technology is required.
β’ Data driven, but also has ability to drive to conclusions with imperfect/incomplete data.
β’ Knowledge of the Agile methodology and associated management tools (i.e. Jira).
β’ Serve as a Full Stack Software Engineer that enables the design, development, and support of Platforms, APIs, and services
β’ Participate in white board sessions to gather customer requirements
β’ Develop SpringBoot/Java API/microservices on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) utilizing GCP services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Spanner, Cloud Pub/Sub, and more
β’ Perform software engineering using Test Driven Development (TDD), continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)
β’ Work in an extreme software development environment using Kanban software methodology
β’ Work with team members to establish best practices to maximize efficiency and minimize risk.
β’ Interact and work closely with product managers to devise solutions and break them down into incremental production-ready user stories
β’ Identify opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges. Refactor API/microservices for simplification and efficiency
β’ Execute API Load and Performance (L&P) on API/modules developed
β’ Develop software that is Clean Code compliant and utilize tools such as SonarQube
β’ Perform individual development and collaborate with cross functional teams on end-to-end integration, testing and issue triage efforts.
β’ Use DevOps tools such as Jenkins, SonarCube, CheckMarx, Fossa, and GitHub to deploy, improve and manage software
β’ Stay current on the latest technology and contribute to the technical direction of the company while keeping a customer-centric approach
Skills / Experience Required:
β’ Experience in designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-based solutions.
β’ Experience with underlying application programming interface (API) methods for systems integrations/data exchange.
β’ Knowledge of security considerations and how to implement them in cloud-based software solutions.
β’ Experience supporting critical applications in an βalways onβ environment.
β’ Minimum 5 years of progressive responsibilities in cloud-based technically aligned functions including:
Core Development (Java Full Stack)
β’ Backend: Java (11/17/21), Spring Boot, Spring Cloud.
β’ Frontend: React, Angular, or Vue.js.
β’ Build/Dependency Management: Maven, Gradle.
GCP Infrastructure & Hybrid Cloud (Anthos)
β’ Anthos: For managing hybrid and multi-cloud environments, ensuring consistency between on-prem and GCP.
β’ Compute: Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and GKE Enterprise.
β’ Serverless: Cloud Run, Cloud Functions.
Service Mesh & Networking (Traffic & Security)
β’ Anthos Service Mesh (ASM) / Istio: For managing microservices communication, traffic splitting (canary releases), and observability.
β’ mTLS (Mutual TLS): Implementing "Zero Trust" security by ensuring all service-to-service communication is encrypted and authenticated via the Mesh.
β’ API Gateways: o Google Cloud API Gateway: For managing, securing, and scaling APIs. o Apigee: For advanced API management and monetization.
β’ Ingress Controllers: GKE Ingress or Istio Gateway for managing external access to services.
β’ Cloud Load Balancing: Global and Regional Load Balancers (L7 and L4).
CI/CD & Automated Deployments
β’ Pipeline Tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Google Cloud Build.
β’ Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform (GCP Provider), Helm Charts (for K8s packaging).
β’ Deployment Strategies: Blue/Green, Canary, and Rolling updates (automated via Service Mesh or GKE).
