Role description
Overview:
Client is seeking an experienced HVR Engineer to support ongoing data migration and integration projects, specifically focusing on the integration of Oracle data sources with Databricks through HVR (part of Fivetran). The ideal candidate will play a critical role in building, configuring, and optimizing data channels, ensuring seamless transactional data movement and transformation.
Responsibilities:
Design, build, and optimize HVR channels to facilitate data movement from Oracle databases to Databricks.
Collaborate with team leads and database administrators (DBAs) to implement and troubleshoot HVR agents on source and target databases.
Understand existing ETL processes and support the migration/modernization of data pipelines as part of large-scale data warehouse initiatives, such as the Research Information Factory (RIF) project.
Replicate configurations and patterns established in prior phases, adapting as necessary to project requirements.
Monitor, analyze, and resolve issues related to data replication, field conversions, performance bottlenecks, or data quality.
Work closely with offshore and/or on-site teams, integrating into a flexible resourcing model per project demands.
Provide expertise and hands-on support for HVR-specific engineering challenges, including optimizing channel performance and resolving integration issues.
Qualifications
Proven experience with HVR (High Volume Replication), particularly in engineering source-target connections and channel optimization.
Strong background in Oracle databases and experience in data extraction, ETL, or data warehouse environments.
Solid understanding and hands-on experience with Databricks or similar big data transformation platforms.
Demonstrated ability to resolve technical issues in agent installation, data type conversions, and end-to-end pipeline troubleshooting.
Ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and effectively communicate within cross-functional teams.
Previous experience in collaborating with third-party consulting and DBA teams (e.g., Infosys) is a plus.
Preferred
Experience with large-scale data migration or modernization projects.
Familiarity with associated cloud or platform services (such as Fivetran integrations).
Prior work on similar projects in a Pharma or Research environment is advantageous.
Engagement Model
Job Types: Contract, Temporary
Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Experience:
HVR (High Volume Replication): 5 years (Preferred)
Pharma or Research environment: 3 years (Preferred)
Work Location: Remote
