Role description
We’re looking for a skilled engineer with strong experience in IBM DataPower and Mainframe data systems to support secure data exchange, authentication services, and integration between legacy and modern platforms. The ideal candidate will combine data engineering fundamentals with middleware / security gateway expertise, ensuring data integrity, authentication, and performance across complex enterprise environments. Key Responsibilities: β€’ Design, implement, and maintain IBM DataPower Gateway solutions for secure API, web service, and data access. β€’ Configure and manage authentication and authorisation mechanisms (OAuth, LDAP, SAML, certificates, etc.). β€’ Support integration between mainframe systems (z/OS, DB2, MQ) and modern data platforms. β€’ Develop, test, and optimise data flows, ensuring scalability, performance, and compliance. β€’ Troubleshoot DataPower and mainframe data connectivity or security issues. β€’ Work closely with application, security, and infrastructure teams to support enterprise data exchange initiatives. Skills & Experience: β€’ Strong hands-on experience with IBM DataPower Gateway (XI52 / IDG / v10). β€’ Solid understanding of authentication, authorisation, and encryption protocols (TLS, OAuth, JWT, SAML). β€’ Experience with Mainframe technologies (COBOL, DB2, JCL, MQ, z/OS Connect, API Connect). β€’ Knowledge of API integration, data pipelines, and ETL processes. β€’ Scripting or automation skills (Python, Shell, or Groovy) beneficial. β€’ Experience in secure data engineering and compliance-driven environments (banking / government / enterprise).
