About The Role We are looking for a highly specialized IBM MQ SME to architect, deploy, and migrate IBM MQ Queue Managers into a containerized Native HA environment running on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). You will own MQ architecture, HA patterns, operator installation, configuration, and failover validation. What You Will Be Doing • Designing and implementing IBM MQ Native HA patterns on Kubernetes. • Installing and configuring the IBM MQ Operator for automated lifecycle management. • Migrating four existing Queue Managers (non-prod and prod) to containerized MQ in AKS. • Configuring MQ channels, listeners, CCDT, TLS certificates, and security. • Performing failover testing, reconnection validation, and operator self-healing checks. • Working closely with AKS Architect to align networking, TLS, ingress, and pipelines. • Troubleshooting MQ workloads, replication behavior, queues, channels, and HA events. • Delivering runbooks, documentation, and operational playbooks. What We Want To See • Deep hands-on experience with IBM MQ (5+ years preferred). • Proven expertise in MQ Queue Manager deployment, configuration, clustering, and HA. • Experience deploying IBM MQ in containerized or Kubernetes environments. • Strong understanding of MQ security (TLS, certs, channels, CCDT). • Ability to run and validate MQ failover, reconnection logic, and operator-driven recovery. • Experience migrating MQ workloads from legacy systems to containerized platforms. • Ability to troubleshoot MQ at an expert level: channels, queues, logs, HA patterns. Technologies Used In This Role • IBM MQ (Queue Managers, Channels, Listeners, CCDT) • IBM MQ Native HA & MQ Operator • Kubernetes (AKS, OpenShift, or vanilla K8s) • TLS/SSL certificates • Linux-based MQ deployments • CI/CD/GitOps for MQ deployments Bonus Points For • Experience with MQ on Azure or other cloud platforms • MQ deployments using Helm or custom YAML pipelines • Experience with OpenShift MQ deployments • Familiarity with Terraform or Bicep (collaboration with AKS Architect) • Experience writing automation runbooks or building MQ observability dashboards
