Role description
Position: Sr infra-automation specialist
Duration: 12+ Months
Location: Remote
Sr infra-automation specialist (ideally with Python experience but can be ansible etc too). The person will develop scripts to orchestrate fail over etc (bring down servers, bring up servers ) through automation. While the env is both Windows & Linux, client is okay with exp in one of these as well.
Additional details:
• We are specifically looking for an Automation Engineer. We should exclude candidates who do not have hands‑on automation experience with on‑premises environments (cloud experience is a plus). They need practical expertise in areas such as automating service restarts, IIS pool recycles, MSSQL queries, HTTP REST automation for technologies like F5 or NetScaler load balancers, and configuring Linux/Windows systems (e.g., kernel or registry settings). Strong proficiency in Python is also required.
At a high level, strong applicants should demonstrate the following:
Advanced automation and scripting expertise
• Candidates should be highly proficient in Python, Bash, and PowerShell, with hands‑on experience automating against API endpoints, databases, and server operating systems. In addition, they should have experience with at least one enterprise‑grade automation or orchestration platform (e.g., Operations Orchestration, Server Automation, Ansible, Rundeck, MECM). They do not need to know all of these, but familiarity with one or more is essential so we can be confident in their ability to design and implement automation in a scalable, maintainable way.
Strong systems and integration knowledge
• Candidates should have solid experience working close to the operating system and infrastructure layer. This includes tasks such as configuring IIS, websites, and application pools; accessing Oracle and/or MSSQL databases using the scripting languages noted above; and writing integration code that automates interactions with API‑based systems. They should be capable of chaining these components together into cohesive, end‑to‑end automated workflows.
