Role description
We are looking for a part-qualified or qualified accountant with strong data and automation skills to lead a structured data validation and integrity project. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that large volumes of financial and operational data are accurate, consistent, and reliable before being used for analytics and decision-making.
This role sits at the intersection of finance, systems, and data, offering a great opportunity to shape data quality standards and influence how information flows across the business.
Key Responsibilities
• Use RPA tools, coding, or scripting (e.g. Python, SQL, VBA, or Alteryx) to validate and reconcile large datasets across multiple systems.
• Identify data inconsistencies, anomalies, and root causes within financial and operational data.
• Collaborate with key business users to document, prioritise, and action data corrections required for reporting and analytics.
• Partner with systems development and IT teams to design structural fixes and automate controls that prevent data errors recurring.
• Develop robust validation frameworks and reporting routines to monitor ongoing data quality.
• Support testing, documentation, and sign-off of improvements implemented through RPA or system configuration changes.
• Provide subject matter insight to ensure data used for analytics and forecasting is accurate, trusted, and fit for purpose.
Candidate Profile
Essential
• Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong experience working with large or complex datasets within finance or data-driven environments.
• Demonstrable experience using RPA tools or coding/scripting to automate validation and reconciliation processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability with strong attention to detail.
• Proven capability to engage with both finance and technical stakeholders to resolve data issues at source.
Desirable
• Exposure to data transformation, BI tools, or system implementation projects.
• Knowledge of financial systems architecture or data governance frameworks.
• Understanding of how high-quality data underpins analytics, dashboards, and forecasting models.
This role is offered on a 12-18 month Fixed Term Contract Basis
