Role description
Executive Summary Role Title: Investment Data Engineer Reporting to: Senior Director Investment Operations Team: Investment Shared Services Function: Group Finance Contract: Fixed Term (12 months) Location: London Purpose of this role The Investment Data Engineer will join the Investment Shared Services team to enable the successful delivery and analysis of asset data to meet the needs of investment portfolio oversight and steering. The role-holder will work alongside the Investment Data Developer and both will be responsible for building the data structure, feeds, analytics and process automation, while partnering with stakeholders across Athora teams to take part in portfolio oversight and risk management and work closely with Apollo’s investment and data analytics teams. Key Responsibilities & Contribution Areas β€’ Collaborate across Athora Group and Apollo with stakeholders including Actuarial, Risk and Investments to understand team needs and translate them into technical specification for the data architecture for structured and unstructured data β€’ Support internal and external stakeholders in setting up the data system β€’ Build β€˜inbound’ asset feeds (investment and accounting books of record) from relevant systems β€’ Build automated exceptions-based control checks β€’ Build normalisation / standard processes for consistent asset data attributes across all business units β€’ Develop automated portfolio analysis and reporting for Athora teams based on robust Python analytics delivered through PowerBI or other relevant user interfaces β€’ Business partner with Athora teams on changing business needs and with technical teams as source systems evolve β€’ Continuously adapt and evolve the portfolio analysis and reporting toolkit Personal Capabilities Required β€’ Demonstrated ability to build strong, effective business partnerships across diverse stakeholder groups β€’ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels β€’ Proven ability to operate at pace and excel within a fast‑moving, dynamic environment β€’ Resilience and composure under pressure, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously β€’ Highly structured and organised approach to work, with strong discipline in execution and follow‑through Functional Or Technical Knowledge And Skills Required β€’ Excellent command of Python coding in a production-quality disciplined, controlled environment β€’ Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional team environment β€’ Strong communication skills with the ability to decomplexify technical terms to non-technical business teams across Athora β€’ Data analysis skills – ability to conduct quantitative data analysis from investment and market data, using automated reporting β€’ Proficiency with database systems β€’ Experience with AI tooling, across structured and unstructured data ideally within the Snowflake or Databricks environments across structured and unstructured data, ideally within the Snowflake or Databricks environments β€’ Familiarity with key financial market issues, ideally in credit and interest rates Apply By 10-05-2026
