Role description
This position is a temporary assignment. As a contractor, you’ll be employed by Magnit, not The Cigna Group or any subsidiaries of The Cigna Group. Job: Tableau Engineer/Developer • The Reporting Lead Analyst (Tableau Engineer) supports the Chief of Staff Office by designing, building, and maintaining executive level dashboards, standardized reports, and analytic visualizations using Tableau. This role translates strategic, operational, and performance management needs into high impact, reliable reporting solutions that enable transparency, prioritization, and informed decision making. The Reporting Lead Analyst partners with Chief of Staff leaders, business stakeholders, and analytics counterparts to gather reporting requirements, clarify key metrics, and understand the context behind leadership level questions. The role is heavily focused on hands on Tableau development, including creating optimized data models, calculated fields, parameters, and advanced visualizations that align with established reporting standards and executive storytelling principles. • In addition to core Tableau engineering responsibilities, this role provides flexible analytical and operational support to the Chief of Staff Office as priorities shift. The Reporting Lead Analyst may support a range of adjacent analytical, documentation, and planning activities beyond formal dashboard development, ensuring continued value delivery and full utilization. This flexibility enables the Chief of Staff Office to adapt quickly to changing business needs while maintaining strong analytical rigor and executive-focused outputs. • Responsibilities Tableau Engineering & Development • Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards, scorecards, and standardized reports to support the Chief of Staff Office’s strategic, operational, and executive reporting needs. • Serve as a hands on Tableau engineer, building performant and scalable dashboards using Tableau Desktop and publishing to Tableau Server/Cloud. • Develop and optimize Tableau data sources, including extracts, calculated fields, parameters, filters, and dashboard actions, ensuring usability and performance. • Apply Tableau best practices, visualization standards, and consistent design patterns across reporting deliverables. • Troubleshoot Tableau performance issues, data refresh failures, and user questions related to published dashboards and data sources. Data & Reporting Quality • Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries to source and transform data from multiple enterprise systems for reporting and visualization. • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across all reporting assets by validating results, reconciling discrepancies, and adhering to defined data quality standards. • Define, document, and maintain metric definitions, calculation logic, and business rules to support governance, transparency, and reuse across dashboards. • Stakeholder Partnership & Delivery • Partner with Chief of Staff leaders and business stakeholders to gather, clarify, and translate reporting requirements into effective visual analytics solutions. • Create executive ready Tableau content that clearly communicates trends, risks, priorities, and performance insights using strong data visualization and storytelling practices. • Support recurring executive reporting as well as ad hoc analytical requests aligned to Chief of Staff initiatives and priorities, including portfolio and initiative tracking. • Identify opportunities to automate reporting processes, reduce manual effort, and improve delivery speed and scalability. • Collaborate with analytics, data, and technology partners to align reporting solutions with enterprise data models and governance expectations. • Manage multiple reporting requests and deadlines effectively while maintaining high quality outputs. • Experience supporting Chief of Staff, executive leadership, PMO, or portfolio management reporting. • Strong understanding of data visualization best practices and executive storytelling principles. • Experience building Tableau dashboards for KPI tracking, scorecards, prioritization, performance monitoring, and initiative tracking. • Familiarity with Tableau data source optimization, extract management, refresh scheduling, and performance tuning. • Experience enabling or supporting self service analytics for business users. • Exposure to data governance, metric standardization, and reporting intake processes. • Experience working in healthcare, insurance, or highly regulated environments (preferred, not required). • Familiarity with Agile or iterative delivery models and cross functional collaboration. • Ability to provide informal guidance or mentorship on Tableau best practices and standards. • Chief of Staff Office Support & Flexible Contribution • Provide flexible analytical, reporting, and operational support to the Chief of Staff Office as priorities and workload demands change. • Assist with ad hoc analysis, data research, and problem-solving efforts that may not require full Tableau dashboard development. • Support preparation of executive materials, summaries, briefings, and leadership-ready insights in partnership with COS leadership. • Contribute to documentation, reporting inventories, intake workflows, process artifacts, and tracking tools used by the COS office. • Support cross-functional COS initiatives, pilots, and one-time efforts by applying analytical thinking, data interpretation, and structured problem-solving. • Adjust focus between Tableau development and broader COS support work as needed. Personal Attributes • Highly organized, self-motivated, and quick learner. • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and environments. • Continuous learning orientation with awareness of evolving trends and tools. • Ability to work a flexible schedule. • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. • 3+ years of experience in analytics, reporting, or business intelligence roles. • Strong hands-on experience developing dashboards and reports using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server/Cloud. • Advanced experience building Tableau calculations, parameters, filters, dashboard actions, and optimized visualizations. • Strong SQL skills, including writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting queries against relational data sources. • Experience working with enterprise data models, multiple source systems, and governed reporting environments. • Proven ability to validate data accuracy, troubleshoot discrepancies, and deliver trusted reporting outputs. • Experience translating business requirements into clear, executive-ready Tableau visualizations. • Strong documentation skills for data definitions, metric logic, and dashboard usage guidance. • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Works within established reporting standards and data models, contributing to—but not setting—enterprise analytics strategy.
