Java/Spark Developer

Job Title: Developer - Core Programming Language - (Java) IV\_US Location: NY or NJ (1 – 2 times per week) Duration: 2-month contract Potential Temp-To-Hire for the right person if organization has a future opening; not a guarantee Looking a senior-level Java/Spark developer with strong Spring Boot, cloud (AWS), and API development experience who can handle both new development and support for existing applications. They’re emphasizing hands-on coding expertise (not just architecture) and problem-solving ability (performance tuning, troubleshooting). The right candidate must be independent, experienced enough to hit the ground running, and strong in communication, since they will interact with users, IT staff, and business teams. Day-to-Day Responsibilities • Designing and developing Java/Spring Boot/Spark-based cloud applications • Writing and reviewing code, checking into repositories, and performing unit testing • Troubleshooting and tuning applications for performance • Supporting existing applications and working on new business initiatives • Integrating in-house systems with vendor platforms • Working with MongoDB and relational databases for extracting data and building reports • Setting up development environments/sandboxes • Collaborating with business users, customers, and IT teams to understand requirements • Participating in the full SDLC: coding, testing, debugging, documenting Must-Have Keywords & Skills • Core Java, J2EE • Spring Framework / Spring Boot • Apache Spark • REST APIs • AWS (EC2, EMR, Lambda, S3, Glue, Containers) • MongoDB (NoSQL) • RDBMS (any) • Performance tuning & troubleshooting • Object-oriented design & design patterns • Strong communication skills Good to Have (not mandatory but a bonus): • JMS, EJBs, ActiveMQ • CI/CD tools (Jenkins, DevOps, Fortify) • Networking knowledge • Security/vulnerability remediation
