Role Overview
An opportunity exists to join a technology team with a track record of delivering low-latency front-office data analytics solutions. The successful candidate will work within the FICC KDB technology team, contributing to the development and maintenance of high-availability, globally deployed systems. This role requires strong software engineering skills to understand business requirements and the architectural vision of the platforms.
Key Responsibilities
• Play an active role in developing and maintaining the KDB-based data platform.
• Articulate effectively with all stakeholders in a business-focused, solutions-based development team.
• Develop cohesive, intelligent, and logical solutions to problems that meet immediate business requirements and allow for future extension.
• Analyze, design, build, and deploy multi-tier, high-availability systems.
• Work within an agile delivery model and communicate with a global team.
• Utilize KDB for primary development, with peripheral technologies including Python, UNIX shell scripting, and Hadoop.
Required Qualifications
Education: A four-year degree or postgraduate degree in Computer Science or relevant work experience in a large-scale IT environment.
Experience: At least 4 years of hands-on KDB development experience.
Technical Skills:
• Strong KDB/q skills with a thorough understanding of q internals such as tp, rdb, hdb, and tick data storage.
• Solid knowledge of the UNIX / Linux environment.
• Strong experience in one or more scripting languages (Perl, Python, Unix Shell Scripting).
• Experience in designing and developing ETL processes.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and apply critical thinking to a variety of situations.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in Python is preferred.
• Experience in the FICC business and a large financial institution is preferred.
• Knowledge of Java is a plus.
Work Environment
This role requires 3 days onsite per week. The candidate will work in a fast-paced, challenging environment with a global team structure, collaborating with developers in EMEA and the US.
