6 month initial contract, 40 hours/week
Pay Range $60-80/hr.
As a Lead Analyst on our client's Economic Insights and Impact team, you will play a central role in establishing our organization as a trusted voice on consumer finance and economic trends. You bring rigorous economic analysis, deep curiosity about how consumers experience the economy, and a strong instinct for identifying what makes an insight meaningful and newsworthy. In this role, you can expect to:
• Produce press-worthy consumer spending insights tied to calendar-driven moments, emerging market trends, and timely media opportunities rooted in rigorous analysis of unique data.
• Partner closely with the Communications team to develop compelling, data-driven stories and efficient collaborative processes for generating data-driven insights at scale.
• Surface and report novel insights on trends in consumer behavior, financial health, and macroeconomic trends using internal data and relevant external sources.
• Conduct expert economic analyses of how consumers respond to changing economic contexts and explain them in a clear, accessible way; contribute thought leadership content on economic trends affecting everyday consumers.
• Produce standardized data tables, analyses and visualizations to power and scale consumer spending insights.
To thrive in this role, you have:
• An advanced degree in Economics or related field
• Significant experience in economic or consumer insights and a passion for understanding and explaining how consumers experience the economy
• 7+ years in data-oriented roles such as economic consulting, data journalism or senior roles on internal economic insights teams
• Expertise in SQL - you can translate questions to queries, understand the edge cases of joins, and with dexterity explore a warehouse to find data most appropriate to the problem
• Expertise in R or Python - you write clear, reproducible code and have a tendency toward automation and documentation that support working collaboratively and at scale
• Expertise in data visualization and familiarity with standard data visualization libraries
• Excellent data storytelling skills – you can quickly find the crux of the story and translate numbers into narratives that resonate
• Economic or consumer insights background with understanding of macroeconomic trends
