Role description
Lead Data Engineer / Data Modelling Lead | Urgent Contract Role
Inside IR35 | £750-875/day | Nottingham & Coventry | Hybrid | Initial 3-4 months
We have a new Lead Data Engineer contract opportunity with a global consultancy working on a high-impact data transformation programme.
You’ll take ownership of designing and building a Snowflake-based data model following the Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) and lead a small team to deliver a scalable, governed solution for analytics and reporting.
This is inside IR35, requires weekly travel to Nottingham and Coventry and for an initial 3-4 month engagement with an immediate start (you must be available within the next 2 weeks).
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement a Snowflake data model aligned to Medallion architecture principles.
• Build and optimise ELT pipelines using best practices for scalability and performance.
• Lead and mentor a team of 2 experienced Data Engineers to deliver the solution end-to-end.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements and ensure business alignment.
• Implement data quality, security, and governance controls across the platform.
Ideal Candidate
• Proven experience in data modelling and data engineering for cloud-based platforms.
• Hands-on expertise with Snowflake and strong understanding of Medallion architecture.
• Leadership experience managing small technical teams.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and problem-solving skills.
Tech Stack Required
• Snowflake
• Matillion (or similar ETL/ELT tools)
• Python / SQL
• Familiarity with Azure / AWS environments
