Role description
TSR Consulting is currently seeking a highly motivated Data Engineer for an opportunity in Pleasanton, CA! Position Title: Data Engineer Location: Pleasanton, CA Anticipated Start Date: ASAP Please note this is the target date and it is subject to change. TSR will send official notice ahead of a confirmed start date. Expected Duration: 17 Months (Contract) Job Type: Remote Job Description We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our Supply Chain Data & AI organization. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in building cloud-native data products and pipelines on Google Cloud Platform using BigQuery, Dataproc, SQL, and dbt and a proven ability to deliver scalable, reliable data models and pipelines that power analytics and AI across Sourcing, Transportation, and Warehouse Management. Responsibilities: β€’ Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines on Google Cloud Platform. β€’ Build and optimize data solutions using Dataproc, BigQuery, SQL, and dbt. β€’ Develop and maintain high-quality data models for reporting, analytics, and AI. β€’ Ingest, transform, validate, and publish data from multiple enterprise source systems. β€’ Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, architects, and engineers to deliver scalable data solutions. β€’ Create reusable transformation components and follow engineering standards and best practices. β€’ Optimize data processing performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. β€’ Perform unit testing, data validation, and production support to ensure quality and stability. β€’ Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and code reviews. β€’ Document technical designs, data flows, and implementation details. Required Skills & Qualifications: β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience. β€’ 8+ years of experience in data engineering. β€’ Hands-on experience delivering data solutions on Google Cloud Platform. β€’ Proficiency with Dataproc, BigQuery, SQL, and dbt. β€’ Strong knowledge of data modeling, including dimensional modeling and analytical warehousing concepts. β€’ Experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and processing large datasets. β€’ Familiarity with Git-based version control and CI/CD practices. β€’ Analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. β€’ Effective communication and collaboration abilities. Preferred Skills: β€’ Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration. β€’ Apache Kafka or other event streaming platforms. β€’ PySpark for distributed data processing. β€’ Python for data engineering, scripting, and automation. β€’ Understanding of data quality, metadata management, and data governance. Domain Experience (Highly Desirable): β€’ Retail industry, especially apparel. β€’ Supply chain data platforms. β€’ Transportation and logistics. β€’ Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). β€’ Distribution center operations.
