Role description
LEAD DESIGN ANALYST
Department: Data Engineering
Job Location: Greenwood Village, CO (In-person interview required)
Job Type: Contract
Required Experience: 10+ years
The Role Description
We are seeking a hybrid Data Visualization Designer and Analyst who lives at the intersection of art and data. This role is ideal for analysts with strong art backgrounds in art, graphic design, etc. that are seeking opportunities to use their strong design background while improving their exposure to more advanced data teams. This person will set the design standards for the team in Tableau, PowerPoint, wireframes, and general visual storytelling. You will be working in concert with other seasoned data professionals that may have more advanced data/technical skills but lack design skills. Overall seeking a person ready to serve as a team leader in building impressive visuals, presentations, dashboards, wireframes, etc. to convey compelling stories and build a team brand identity.
Interview Requirements
β’ Will require a portfolio review: Candidates must present a design portfolio that may include (but is not limited to) Tableau Dashboard(s), presentations/PowerPoint decks, infographics, wireframes, branding kits, etc. Seeking work that reflects a strong sense of design as well as a capacity to visually tell a story. Portfolio does not need to be large and can include βpretend/demoβ work not actually delivered for real clients.
β’ The "Why" Behind the Design: Be prepared to explain your design choicesβhow color, spacing, chart selection, etc. were used to enhance the specific data story.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Set The Design Bar for the entire team; consistently wows stakeholders
β’ Artful Data Storytelling: Design and develop high-fidelity, interactive dashboards in Tableau Desktop that are as beautiful as they are insightful. You can demonstrate a strong capacity to build truly impressive dashboards and data visualizations that are a world above what most teams produce.
β’ High-End Executive Presentations: Build beautiful PowerPoint decks for executive leadership, applying advanced graphic design principles (typography, layout, and visual hierarchy) to technical data.
β’ Rapid Prototyping & Delivery: Move from raw data to a polished visual concept quickly without sacrificing the "artfully considered" quality of the work.
β’ Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across the table with fellow data peers to drive brand consistency across all data products.
Required Qualifications
β’ True Passion for Design: A strong portfolio/background in art and or graphic design. You must be able to share literal design examples of your work (dashboards, PowerPoints, infographics, etc.) that demonstrate your abilities
β’ Tableau Fluency: Fluid proficiency in Tableau Desktop (LOD expressions, parameters, advanced actions) and Tableau Server workbook publishing/maintenance
β’ PowerPoint/Presentation Fluency: Expert-level skills in design presentations/ PowerPoints, with a focus on custom template design and overall branding.
β’ Basic Analytics Experience: Have at least a basic proficiency in SQL and an openness to expanding technical skills into more advanced areas with exposure (such as advanced prompt engineering).
β’ Speed & Precision: A proven track record of meeting strict deadlines in a high-pressure environment while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
Bonus Points
β’ True graphic design training and experience in tools like the Adobe Creative suite and/or open-source analogues to generate custom graphic content
β’ REACT or other analogous front-end development experience and/or formal experience building front-end application wireframes
β’ Formal roles and projects in UX/UI
β’ Strong in-person presentation and communication skills
