β€’ Role: Lead Developer β€’ Location: Houston, TX β€’ Type: Hybrid β€’ Duration: 12+ months β€’ Start: Immediate About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Developer to lead the technical development of our innovative Matching Engineβ€”a next-generation platform designed to optimize the allocation of Carbon Offsets and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). This solution will empower Trade Desk users with real-time visibility into inventory and demand, and an intuitive interface to configure allocation logic. You will collaborate with the Technical Architect, cross-functional teams including Product Managers, Data Engineers, and UI/UX Designers to deliver a scalable, high-performance architecture that integrates seamlessly with real-time data infrastructure and meets the evolving needs of carbon markets. Key Responsibilities: β€’ Lead end-to-end solution development for the Matching Engine platform. β€’ Develop web-based UI for Trade Desk to: β€’ View carbon offsets and RECs supply inventory β€’ Monitor projected demand for carbon offsets and RECs β€’ Manage and configure allocation rules for matching supply to demand β€’ Architect and oversee implementation of rule execution engine that applies allocation logic and updates the data lake in real-time. β€’ Collaborate with Data Engineering to ensure real-time streaming architecture integrates with matching logic. β€’ Ensure solution is scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architectural standards. β€’ Work closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications. β€’ Define APIs, microservices, data flow designs, and integration patterns. β€’ Provide technical leadership across development, testing, and deployment phases. β€’ Stay up to date with emerging technologies in carbon markets, real-time systems, and enterprise integration patterns. Required Qualifications: β€’ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. β€’ 8+ years of IT experience with at least 3+ years in hands-on Development β€’ Proven experience designing real-time data-driven applications, ideally in energy, sustainability, or trading domains. β€’ Expertise in building UIs with frameworks like React or Angular and backend services using Node.js, Java, or .NET. β€’ Strong knowledge of data lake architectures, e.g., Delta Lake, AWS Lake Formation, or Azure Data Lake. β€’ Experience with real-time stream processing (e.g., Apache Kafka, Spark Streaming, Flink). β€’ Solid understanding of business rule engines and rule-based system design. β€’ Familiarity with cloud-native architecture (AWS / Azure / GCP). β€’ Experience with carbon offsets / RECs data is a strong plus. Preferred Qualifications: β€’ Experience with carbon market platforms, energy trading, or sustainability tech. β€’ Familiarity with rule scripting frameworks and rule automation tools (e.g., Drools, Camunda, custom logic engines). β€’ Understanding of regulatory and compliance aspects of environmental credits.
