Role description
Position: Lead Engineer
Team: Technology, InfoSec and Infrastructure
Location: Remote
Type: Long term temporary, full time on Eastern hours
About the Role
We are seeking a Lead Engineer to shape the technical direction, reliability, and scalability of an enterprise analytics platform that supports mission critical operations. You will design and operate cloud native solutions end to end, from data ingestion and transformation through secure service layers to intuitive analytics dashboards. This role centers on building a comprehensive analytics experience that gives leaders real time visibility into applications in development and in production, including key telemetry and operational data points.
You will establish and champion architectural patterns, automation standards, and observability practices that reduce risk and raise operational readiness. As a technical anchor, you will mentor engineers, guide complex design decisions, and communicate tradeoffs and strategy to cross functional stakeholders.
What You Will Do
Solutioning and Design
• Develop a deep understanding of stakeholder processes and operational needs
• Partner with solutions architects and lead engineers to evaluate feature requests, estimate effort, and contribute to sprint planning
• Conduct and participate in peer code and design reviews
Design, Architecture, and Implementation
• Lead end to end solution design for cloud native data architectures, real time telemetry pipelines, APIs, and high performance reporting systems
• Build secure, scalable full stack solutions across backend services, data platforms, and front end analytics applications
• Embed monitoring, telemetry, and operational readiness into platform components
• Establish and enforce strong architecture, automation, and observability practices
• Engineer for scalability, data integrity, high availability, and long term reliability
Technical Leadership and Engineering Excellence
• Serve as a technical anchor guiding complex design decisions and large scale problem solving
• Mentor engineers across cloud, data, and full stack domains
• Communicate architectural tradeoffs and platform strategy to cross functional partners
• Promote best practices in secure system design, performance optimization, automation, and resilient engineering
Team Operations and Collaboration
• Partner with product, operations, and security stakeholders to align technical solutions with business priorities
• Support high stakes readiness through proactive risk identification, capacity planning, and reliability reviews
• Foster a culture of ownership, documentation, accountability, and continuous improvement
What You Bring
• 7 or more years designing, building, and operating scalable cloud native applications, data pipelines, and analytics platforms in high availability environments
• 3 or more years developing modern front end applications with TypeScript and React focused on analytics dashboards and data driven interfaces
• Strong hands on backend experience with Node.js preferably with TypeScript and Python, including APIs, event driven services, and data processing for real time and near real time analytics
• Experience designing and maintaining reliable scalable data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration pipelines for operational and analytical workloads
• Expertise in building responsive, secure, high performance UIs with TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• Experience implementing role based access control and secure access patterns for proper data governance and protection of sensitive information
• Experience with asynchronous programming, event driven architectures, and telemetry or event streaming patterns
• Hands on experience with real time monitoring and analytics tools such as Grafana and InfluxDB
• Strong experience with cloud data stores and query engines such as Amazon Redshift, Athena, DynamoDB, and S3 based data lakes, including performance optimization and trend analysis
• Deep expertise in data modeling and transformation on AWS using services such as Glue, Redshift, Athena, EMR, Lambda, and S3 to build scalable, performant, and reliable analytical foundations
• Experience integrating Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence into analytics platforms, such as predictive models, anomaly detection, trend analysis, or intelligent insights in production
• Familiarity with ML lifecycle and operations using platforms such as SageMaker Studio and Amazon QuickSight or Tableau
• Deep knowledge of AWS services including Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, Step Functions, IAM, KMS, and CloudWatch
• Experience provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools such as AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS CLI
• A strong focus on scalability, data integrity, reliability, and operational readiness
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence
• Strong analytical thinking, structured problem solving, and effective communication skills
Nice to Have
• Exposure to building or operating analytics capabilities within a SaaS environment, including multi tenant architecture considerations
• Familiarity with cell based architecture patterns that support isolation, fault containment, horizontal scalability, and resilience at scale
• Experience designing systems for tenant level data isolation, performance segmentation, and secure access controls
• Understanding of platform level observability and operational strategies in distributed, cell based systems
Our Stack and Target Proficiency
• Backend and Data: Python, Node.js with TypeScript, APIs, event driven services, data processing
• AWS Data and Compute: Lambda, S3, SNS and SQS, Glue, Step Functions or Airflow, Redshift, Athena, EMR, DynamoDB, Lake Formation, Apache Iceberg
• Analytics and Monitoring: Grafana, InfluxDB, Amazon QuickSight or Tableau
• Front End: TypeScript, JavaScript ES6, React
• Security and Operations: RBAC, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, telemetry and observability
• Infrastructure as Code: AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform, AWS CLI
• ML and AI: SageMaker Studio, production model integration and monitoring
Pay Rate Range: $80-$90 per hr (Depending on Experience)
