Lead Engineer (Nearshore)

Nearshore — Tech Lead | Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer Mexico-Based Delivery Squad | Fully Remote Overview We're looking for a Nearshore Tech Lead who thrives in a startup-like environment inside an established auto lender. This isn't a traditional lead role where you manage from a distance — you're architecting, shipping production code, and setting the engineering bar for the team. Real technical ownership from day one with direct visibility into the products that power the business. Key Responsibilities Design & Development • Architect, build, and operate full-stack services and user experiences powering loan origination, decisioning, and servicing on our new Flagship Platform • Ship features end-to-end: Next.js frontend, C#/.NET backend, PostgreSQL, and AWS ECS infrastructure • Translate complex financial and operational workflows into clean, performant, well-tested code that holds up under regulatory scrutiny and production load API & Platform Integration • Lead integrations with credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax, TransUnion), dealer systems (DealerTrack, RouteOne), fraud and verification providers, and third-party partners — including contract design, retry/idempotency strategy, and operational runbooks • Extend and customize the DEFI Solutions loan origination platform — configuring workflows, scorecards, rules, and decision flows via REST APIs and MSSQL Technical Leadership • Own the technical direction for the nearshore squad — you set the patterns, everyone else follows • Run design reviews, provide technical guidance, and onboard engineers joining after you • Serve as the bridge between the nearshore delivery squad and US-based stakeholders — strong English communication is a must • Drive observability, performance, reliability, and security across all services you own Engineering Practices • Set the standard for testing, observability, security, and CI/CD across the team • Lead by example on AI-assisted development — GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code — accelerating delivery without sacrificing quality • Collaborate directly with Product, Design, and business stakeholders from problem framing through production rollout Must-Haves • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven lead or senior IC track record • Expert-level C#/.NET backend and React/Next.js frontend • Strong PostgreSQL, RESTful API design, and SQL Server/T-SQL • Hands-on AWS experience — ECS, EKS, Fargate, Docker • Experience integrating with multiple vendor systems (bureaus, dealer systems, etc.) • Daily AI tooling proficiency — you're setting the standard for the team • Strong English communication for daily standups and US stakeholder collaboration Nice-to-Haves • DEFI Solutions or equivalent commercial Loan Origination System experience • Auto finance, lending, or regulated-industry background • Event-driven architecture and AWS messaging (SNS, SQS, EventBridge, Kafka) • ML-driven decisioning or underwriting model integration experience • Experience leading distributed or nearshore teams Logistics • Fully remote — no travel required • Standups at 9:30am CST — Mexico timezone friendly • Possible team offsite every 6 months (Phoenix or East/West Coast) • Mexico-based role — no visa or work authorization requirements #Remote
