SKILLS REQUIRED:
Primary (Must-Have):
• Advanced Microsoft SQL Server Administration (2019–2022) across enterprise on-premises and cloud infrastructures
• Hands-on architecture of High Availability/Disaster Recovery (Always On Availability Groups, FCI, Replication, Log Shipping)
• Proven deployment and management of AWS RDS (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, and DynamoDB)
• Deep experience executing complex database migrations from On-Prem to Cloud RDS/Aurora using AWS DMS and AWS SCT
• Expertise in database performance tuning, index optimization, query execution plan analysis, and blocking/deadlock resolution
Secondary (Good to Have):
• Strong automation capabilities using PowerShell and T-SQL for routine installations and task optimization
• Deep understanding of AWS core infrastructure layers including S3, VPC architectures, IAM policies, and Security Groups
• Experience conducting technical code reviews and structural schema validations with application development teams

We are seeking an elite, senior-level SQL Server Database Engineer / DBA with 11+ years of experience to lead the design, administration, and performance optimization of mission-critical database platforms. Operating in a fully remote capacity centered out of Charlotte, NC, this high-impact role oversees resilient Microsoft SQL Server environments across both hybrid on-premises setups and multi-engine AWS cloud ecosystems. The successful candidate will drive infrastructure availability, guide complex cloud migration frameworks, and deliver top-tier L3/L4 technical resolution to maximize scalability and secure enterprise wealth management platforms.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage the full lifecycle administration—including installation, configuration, scaling, and patching—of Microsoft SQL Server (2019–2022) database systems.
• Architect and govern high-availability structures, managing complex Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), and rigid multi-site replication models.
• Drive structural cloud transformations, utilizing AWS DMS and AWS SCT to seamlessly migrate legacy, on-premises RDBMS instances into AWS RDS, Aurora, and NoSQL layers.
• Troubleshoot high-tier performance bottlenecks, optimizing query paths, index strategies, CPU allocations, memory usage, and $tempdb$ boundaries.
• Author robust automation scripts via PowerShell and T-SQL to simplify database configuration and administrative runbooks, while implementing CloudWatch tracking frameworks.
• Partner directly with cross-functional Application, DevOps, and Security squads to perform proactive database code reviews, validate schema changes, and maintain compliance standards.
• Own business-critical Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery (DR) testing loops, ensuring all configurations strictly meet enterprise RPO and RTO mandates.
• Deliver expert L3/L4 support for database operational outages and actively participate in a 24/7 critical system on-call engineering rotation.
