Role: Lead Palantir Data Engineer Location – San Francisco, California Duration: (Contract) We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to join our team and lead the development and support of innovative full stack applications within the Palantir Foundry platform. This leadership role involves managing a diverse team of 5 to 10 engineers distributed across offshore, onshore, and onsite locations. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in data engineering, application development, and AI/LLM integration while driving operational excellence and collaboration. Key Responsibilities β€’ Lead manage team of engineers across multiple geographic locations (offshore, onshore, onsite), fostering collaboration and high performance. β€’ Architect, design, and develop robust full stack applications using Palantir Foundry tools, ensuring effective frontend-backend integration. β€’ Enhance user experience through improved UI and data visualization design leveraging Foundry’s native tools and Power BI. β€’ Implement operational applications using Workshop, Quiver, and Slate Foundry tools, including workflow UIs and data version controls. β€’ Develop and maintain writeback functionalities and interactive analytics features within Foundry applications. β€’ Build and scale data pipelines using Python and PySpark to support datasets, UI applications, and Foundry objects. β€’ Collaborate closely with the Data Engineering team to understand and utilize data ontologies and underlying pipelines. β€’ Manage end-to-end ETL processes and design data-intensive workflows to meet business and performance needs. β€’ Develop automated testing frameworks and implement data validations using PyTest and Foundry Expectations. β€’ Monitor application and data pipeline health, troubleshoot issues related to data quality, staleness, and software defects. β€’ Drive continuous improvement of applications and pipelines to align with evolving business requirements. Qualifications β€’ Proven leadership experience managing distributed teams of data engineers (5–10 members) across offshore, onshore, and onsite settings. β€’ Extensive hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry development and operational toolkits (Workshop, Quiver, Slate, Contour). β€’ Strong background in AI and large language model (LLM) technologies aligned with application integration (AIP). β€’ Proficiency in full stack application development including frontend UI/visualization and backend data processing. β€’ Advanced skills in Python, PySpark, and building scalable data pipelines and ETL workflows. β€’ Experience with data visualization platforms such as Foundry native tools and Power BI. β€’ Demonstrated expertise in automated testing practices, including PyTest and Foundry Health checks. β€’ Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of debugging and resolving complex data and software issues. β€’ Strong communication abilities to effectively collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and translate technical solutions to business needs.
