Lead Power BI Engineer Opportunity for a Lead Power BI Engineer to guide the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-grade Power BI solutions that will power data-driven decisions across an organization. You will play a critical part in advancing our self-service analytics strategy, establishing semantic models, and fostering a culture of data literacy and governance. As a technical lead, you’ll own the end-to-end Power BI lifecycle—from data modeling and DAX optimization to solution deployment and adoption. • This is a 12-month contract with a client based in Alpharetta, GA. • This opportunity is 100% remote. • You can live anywhere in the US, but you must work EST hours. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Lead design and development of scalable, enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models aligned to business goals • Build and manage semantic data models in Power BI using best practices for performance, reusability, and user adoption • Collaborate with data architects and engineers to integrate dimensional models and ensure alignment with data warehouse structures (e.g., Kimball methodology) • Develop advanced DAX calculations, Power Query transformations, and optimize query performance to support analytical use cases • Define and implement Power BI governance standards including naming conventions, workspace strategy, role-based access, and row-level security • Drive and support the use of DevOps and GitHub for version control, deployment pipelines, and lifecycle management of Power BI assets • Engage with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define KPIs and metrics, and translate needs into impactful data visualizations • Provide hands-on training, documentation, and adoption strategies to promote self-service analytics and business ownership of insights • Ensure high data integrity and accuracy through validation, governance alignment, and QA processes across all reporting layers • Monitor, tune, and proactively improve performance of Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards • Guide and mentor junior Power BI developers on modeling techniques, standards, and development best practices • Contribute to the overall BI strategy by participating in roadmap planning, architecture reviews, and platform evolution discussions • Stay current on emerging Power BI features, Microsoft Fabric capabilities, and visualization best practices to continually enhance user experience REQUIREMENTS: • 7+ years of BI/analytics experience • 3+ years' experience leading enterprise Power BI design, development, and deployment • 4+ years of Power BI data visualization/analytics expertise • Experience integrating Power BI with data platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Snowflake, etc.) • Expertise in DAX, Power Query (M), SQL, and building scalable semantic models using Kimball methodology • Experience leading end-to-end BI project lifecycles • Experience with structured/semi-structured data (e.g., SQL, JSON, flat files) • Cloud experience (Azure preferred) • Power BI Service administration experience, including workspace and security management • Experience mentoring and guiding BI developers on technical best practices • Experience implementing DevOps practices/tools for BI (GitHub, Azure DevOps) for CI/CD and version control • Agile / Scrum methodology experience, including tools such as Jira or Azure Boards • Experience defining business KPIs and working with business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable insights PREFERRED SKILLS: • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar • Tableau experience • Qlik experience NO 3rd Parties / NO Visa Sponsorship
