🚀 Hiring: Lead SRE & Edge Architect | Chicago, IL
We are looking for a high-caliber Lead SRE & Edge Architect to serve as the Sole Custodian of our Integrated Intelligence Ops Ecosystem. This is a unique, full-stack infrastructure role where your responsibility begins at the physical intrusion sensor on the rack and extends to AIOps-driven self-healing application workloads.
You will bridge the gap between physical hardware security and high-velocity, cloud-native delivery within a Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) Connected environment.
🛡️ The Mission
• Ecosystem Custodianship: Build the bridge between physical hardware security and GDC-native application delivery.
• Hybrid Orchestration: Lead the deployment of VM Runtime on GDC and software-defined storage, enabling legacy VMs and modern microservices to coexist seamlessly.
• Zero-Trust Engineering: Pioneer a security posture using MASQUE/TLS tunnels, per-machine certificates, and hardware-level encryption.
• Full-Lifecycle Ownership: Manage the entire stack—from physical rack sensors to AIOps-driven self-healing.
• High-Availability Connectivity: Ensure secure GDC-to-GCP communication with 99.99% uptime for local-first operations.
🛠️ Mandatory Technical ProficienciesI. Cloud-Native & DevOps Orchestration
• Orchestration: Expert-level mastery of Kubernetes (K8s) and Docker for large-scale distributed systems.
• IaC: Advanced automation using Terraform (GCP/GDC) and Ansible (Bare Metal OS configuration).
• CI/CD: Engineering complex Helm Charts and managing pipelines via GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and Jenkins.
• Networking: NGINX Load Balancer as a Service and Distributed Cloud Edge Network API integration.
II. Intelligence Ops & Observability
• The Gold Standard: Implementation of Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry (OTEL).
• AIOps: Building closed-loop remediation using Vertex AI to analyze traces and trigger automated CLI/API scripts.
III. Security & Hardware Integrity
• Hardware Defense: Knowledge of Physical Intrusion Sensors and Port Lockdown strategies.
• Root of Trust: Managing TPM integrations and LUKS for data-at-rest protection.
• Encryption: Implementation of Self-Encrypting Disks (SED) and Cloud KMS/CMEK.
• Secure Tunnels: Engineering MASQUE tunnels and per-machine certificates.
🌟 Preferred Qualifications
• Certifications: Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Data Engineer.
• Industry Experience: Highly regulated sectors (Defense, Telco, Banking, or Healthcare).
• System Depth: Strong background in Linux Kernel tuning and Bare Metal performance optimization.
