Role description
Legal Data Governance Analyst Role Summary We're looking for a meticulous and process-driven Legal Data Governance Analyst to support a strategic initiative focused on modernizing legal data retention practices within Office 365. This role centers on transitioning from legacy litigation holds to a more structured, case-based e-Discovery framework. The ideal candidate will bring experience in legal data workflows, strong administrative discipline, and a commitment to confidentiality. Responsibilities • Oversee the migration of outdated litigation holds to case-specific e-Discovery holds using Office 365 tools. • Partner with legal and account administration teams to audit, validate, and reassign user-level data holds. • Investigate legacy holds with unclear retention rationale and document findings for resolution. • Set up and manage e-Discovery cases, ensuring accurate assignment of custodians and timely closure workflows. • Ensure secure handling of sensitive and confidential data throughout the project lifecycle. • Monitor progress, maintain detailed records, and communicate status updates to stakeholders. • Assist with manual reviews and support automation efforts; scripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell) is a plus. Qualifications • Hands-on experience with e-Discovery platforms and legal hold management, ideally within Office 365. • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. • Understanding of data retention policies and legal preservation requirements. • Comfortable managing high-volume data reviews across large user populations. • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across legal and technical teams. Preferred Experience • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting in Microsoft environments. • Background in compliance, legal operations, or enterprise data governance. • Experience with case-based hold tracking and automated disposition workflows. Key Collaborators • Legal & Compliance Teams • Account Administration • Project Leadership Additional Notes This role is central to a high-visibility initiative aimed at improving legal data governance and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will help sunset legacy processes and implement a scalable, compliant framework for future legal holds.
