Responsibilities
Kforce has a client that is seeking a LiDAR Analyst in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Primary Responsibilities LiDAR Processing & Analysis (70%):
β’ Process raw point cloud data using industry-standard software (Terrasolid, Riegl, LP360)
β’ Perform automated and manual point cloud classification for ground, vegetation, buildings, and infrastructure
β’ Execute detailed manual feature coding for transmission and distribution infrastructure (poles, wires, towers, conductors)
β’ Generate digital terrain models (DTM) and breakline delineation for engineering applications
β’ Create derived products including ground contours, slope maps, and watershed models
β’ Vectorize utility infrastructure (poles and wires)
Quality Assurance & Validation (20%):
β’ Conduct rigorous QA/QC on LiDAR and imagery datasets against project specifications
β’ Validate data accuracy through control point analysis, strip alignment checks, and density mapping
β’ Perform quality checks on post-acquisition data and airborne/mobile trajectory processing
β’ Review and validate final products before delivery to stakeholders
β’ Document quality metrics and accuracy assessments
Imagery Processing & Integration (10%):
β’ Create and analyze orthomosaics from airborne imagery collections
β’ Integrate LiDAR and imagery datasets for comprehensive geospatial intelligence
β’ Develop digital mapping products, dashboards, and webmaps using various software platforms
β’ Support cross-functional teams with geospatial data visualization and analysis
Requirements
β’ 2-4 years in LiDAR processing, remote sensing, or geospatial analysis
β’ Demonstrated experience with utility infrastructure mapping or engineering geospatial projects
Technical Skills
β’ Proficiency in LiDAR processing software (Terrasolid required; Riegl, LP360 preferred)
β’ Experience with manual LiDAR editing and feature extraction workflows
β’ Understanding of point cloud classification, terrain modeling, and breakline generation
β’ Familiarity with GIS platforms (ArcGIS Pro, QGIS) for spatial analysis and visualization
β’ Knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, and geospatial data formats (LAS, LAZ)
Industry Knowledge
β’ Understanding of electric utility infrastructure (transmission/distribution systems preferred)
β’ Familiarity with energy utility business requirements and geospatial deliverables
β’ Experience supporting engineering projects or renewable energy site assessments
Professional Skills
β’ Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality
β’ Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
β’ Effective time management in a high-volume production environment (~500 projects annually)
β’ Clear communication skills for technical documentation and team coordination
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience with Riegl airborne and terrestrial LiDAR systems
β’ Knowledge of electric distribution and transmission mapping standards
β’ Familiarity with photogrammetry and orthomosaic generation
β’ Background in renewable energy site assessment or topographic analysis
β’ Training or mentoring experience supporting junior analysts or data science teams
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
