Role Summary:
As a Looker Developer (contract) with a focus on financial content, you will manage the creation, maintenance, and optimisation of Looker dashboards, data models, and reports that enhance transparency around fixed income markets. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to transform data into actionable insights that drive key business decisions for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Dashboard Development: Create and maintain highly insightful dashboards in Looker, ensuring they are user-friendly, efficient, and aligned with business goals.
β’ Data Modeling: Build and maintain data models in Looker, applying LookML to enhance data structure, data flow, and overall data quality.
β’ Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with product, sales, customer service and engineering teams to understand data needs and translate them into technical requirements.
β’ Performance Optimisation: Regularly monitor and refine dashboard performance to ensure rapid data retrieval and visual clarity.
β’ Documentation & Training: Develop documentation for reports, dashboards, and data processes, and provide training to team members on Looker functionalities and best practices.
β’ Data Integrity: Maintain and enforce high data quality and integrity standards across all reports and analytics.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
β’ Experience: 5+ years in data analysis, with at least 2 years focused on Looker or similar BI tools.
β’ Technical Skills: SQL, and data modelling. Familiarity with Python or R and LookMLΒ areΒ a plus.
β’ Data Warehousing: Experience with data warehousing concepts and tools (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.).
β’ Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a deep understanding of data visualisation and BI best practices.
β’ Communication: Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail and commitment to accuracy and data quality.
β’ Education: Bachelorβs degree in a related field (Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, etc.) or equivalent experience.
Nice to Have:
β’ Experience with ETL processes and data transformation tools.
β’ A background in in-depth analysis on fixed income markets, such as bonds and derivatives.
β’ Previous work generating valuation and reporting metrics, e.g.daily valuations of fixed income assets for market closes, ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.
β’ Familiarity with advanced Looker features, such as custom visualisations or embedding.
β’ Background in an industry with a high data-driven focus, like e-commerce, SaaS, or finance.
