Role description
AI Systems Engineer / Agentic Platform Developer
We’re looking for an engineer who can bridge advanced AI capabilities with robust software engineering practices. In this role, you’ll design and implement intelligent systems that interact with tools, APIs, and data sources to solve complex, real‑world problems. You’ll work across the full lifecycle—from architecture and experimentation to deployment and optimization—while shaping the next generation of agentic applications and copilots.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguous environments, communicates clearly across disciplines, and enjoys owning solutions end‑to‑end.
What You’ll Do
• Build and refine AI‑driven services that integrate with internal and external APIs, ensuring secure handling of authentication, secrets, and access controls.
• Architect and implement production‑grade agents and copilots capable of reasoning, tool use, and multi‑step orchestration.
• Design clean, scalable APIs and backend services with strong attention to data structures, error handling, concurrency, and performance.
• Develop retrieval and grounding pipelines using vector databases, hybrid search, metadata filtering, reranking, and chunking strategies.
• Implement RAG‑based systems using modern frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, or similar orchestration tools.
• Collaborate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, translating complex concepts into clear recommendations and influencing decision‑making.
• Lead technical investigations, evaluate tradeoffs, and propose architectural paths forward with SME‑level ownership.
• Ship high‑quality code with strong testing practices, performance tuning, and observability.
• Prototype and iterate quickly, moving from concept to functional proof‑of‑concept to production‑ready system.
• Work independently in a fast‑moving environment, proactively identifying opportunities and driving projects with minimal oversight.
What You Bring
• Strong programming experience in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js, with a deep understanding of backend fundamentals.
• Hands‑on experience integrating with APIs, building secure services, and managing secrets, auth flows, and access policies.
• Expertise in API design, data modeling, concurrency, testing strategies, and performance optimization.
• Practical experience with vector databases and retrieval pipelines (e.g., hybrid search, embeddings, chunking, metadata filtering, reranking, citation generation).
• Demonstrated success building RAG systems and grounding pipelines in production or advanced prototypes.
• Experience with agent frameworks or orchestration tools (LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, OpenAI tool‑calling, or comparable systems).
• A track record of building AI agents or copilots that perform real tasks—not just prompt engineering.
• Ability to operate with autonomy, navigate ambiguity, and drive projects from idea to execution.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions and influence stakeholders across disciplines.
• A proactive, self‑directed mindset and a strong sense of ownership.
