Job Title: Market Data Business Analyst Location: Charlotte, NC Experience Level: 8–15+ years Duration: Long Term Job Summary The Market Data Business Analyst will play a key role in analyzing, managing, and optimizing market data services and solutions across the organization. The role involves collaborating with business, technology, and vendor management teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and cost-efficient delivery of market data used by trading, risk, and analytics platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial markets, data feeds (real-time and reference), vendor platforms, licensing models, and data consumption frameworks within capital markets. Key Responsibilities • Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering • Work closely with trading, risk, and operations teams to capture and document market data requirements for new systems or regulatory initiatives. • Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications for data integration and consumption. • Conduct impact analysis for new data sources or changes in vendor data feeds. • Market Data Management & Governance • Manage and optimize usage of market data from vendors such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv (Reuters), ICE, S&P Global, FactSet, SIX, Morningstar, etc. • Support licensing audits, usage tracking, and compliance with vendor contracts and exchange policies. • Maintain data catalogs, entitlements, and reference data dictionaries. • Vendor & Cost Optimization • Collaborate with market data procurement and vendor management teams to assess data needs, licensing, and cost models. • Analyze data usage metrics to identify underutilized subscriptions or redundant services and propose optimizations. • Support vendor evaluations and proof-of-concept initiatives for new data sources. • Technical & Data Integration • Liaise with development teams for integration of market data feeds (e.g., Bloomberg B-PIPE, Refinitiv Elektron, ICE Data Services) into trading and analytical systems. • Understand data formats such as FIX, XML, JSON, CSV, and tools for ingestion and validation. • Support data mapping, normalization, and validation across systems (trading, risk, PnL, compliance). • Testing & Quality Assurance • Define and execute test cases for new data feeds, entitlement changes, or platform migrations. • Ensure data accuracy, latency, and completeness across end-to-end data pipelines. • Stakeholder Management • Act as a liaison between technology, business users, and market data vendors. • Provide documentation, dashboards, and presentations on market data usage, KPIs, and cost performance. Required Skills & Experience • 8–15 years of experience as a Business Analyst in Market Data, Financial Technology, or Capital Markets environments. • Strong knowledge of financial instruments (equities, fixed income, FX, derivatives, commodities) and associated market data types (real-time, reference, derived). • Experience with Bloomberg, Refinitiv, ICE, S&P, FactSet, or similar data vendors. • Familiarity with data licensing, compliance policies, and vendor usage audits. • Strong analytical and documentation skills using tools like JIRA, Confluence, Excel, Power BI, or Tableau. • Understanding of data integration concepts — APIs, data feeds, ETL processes, and SQL queries for validation. • Exposure to cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure) and data governance frameworks is a plus. • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
