Role description
We are seeking a dynamic individual to support a newly independent media company that has recently spun off from a larger parent organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help develop short-term and long-term views on growth for the organizations subscriber base, leveraging first and third-party data to discern trends in signups, churn, consumption, and other growth metrics.
Minimum Qualifications:
β’ 4+ years of experience in Media/Entertainment/Tech industry and with analytical experience working with large, complex data sets and analytical tools
β’ Experience building complex forecasting or financial models that leverage insights from 1st and 3rd party data sets and operate via well informed business assumptions
β’ Advanced SQL coding skills for analytics and data analysis
β’ Expertise in Excel and financial modeling
β’ 5+ years of financial modeling experience working with large, complex data sets
β’ 2+ years of experience working at a subscription business analyzing subscriber data sets
β’ Familiarity with subscription business KPIs and metrics (TV& streaming subscription metrics is a plus)
β’ Strong proficiency in both SQL and Excel
β’ Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights
β’ Proficient in maintaining meticulous records, documenting procedures, and ensuring accuracy in all aspects of work, reflecting exceptional attention to detail
β’ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
β’ Experience in Tableau or an equivalent data-visualization tool is a plus
β’ Experience with statistical modeling and/or advanced data science techniques is a plus
Responsibilities:
β’ Become an expert on the organizationβs first-party growth metrics data and existing data infrastructure underlying it
β’ Write SQL queries to generate first-party data sets that are tailor-made for feeding an Excel-based forecasting model
β’ Build performance forecasting models across a variety of dimensions & metrics using 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party data
β’ Build a new short-term forecasting model in Excel at higher levels of granularity than existing model, with a focus on (1) ability to rapidly change inputs and iterate on various scenarios and (2) ability to rapidly update model with actuals first-party data
β’ Interface with existing stakeholders of subscriber model to understand their needs and build model outputs and visualizations tailor-made to those needs
β’ Work with teammates on Forecasting team to answer ad-hoc questions from stakeholders and put together ad-hoc analyses using both the existing model and the re-vamped model as a data input
β’ Iterate on re-vamped model as needed based on continuously evolving stakeholder needs
β’ Help contribute to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work culture
