Role description
Job Summary
A Measurements Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Painted Post, NY area. This role is focused on creating and deploying C# and Python-based image processing algorithms and software for manufacturing inspection and quality control, requiring strong knowledge of OOP, data analysis, and ideally, machine learning and optical metrology concepts.

Responsibilities
• Contractor position interfacing with the Environmental Technologies Division Engineering Measurements & Controls group.
• Purpose is contributing to and developing software and algorithms for processing imaging data.
• Works closely with the measurements group to develop approaches for data manipulation for production and quality feedback.
• Develops software and image processing algorithms for inspection technology.
• Transfers technology from early-stage development to a production-suitable product for manufacturing.
• Creates/updates documentation for application and procedure release to production.
• Trains engineering, maintenance, and operations personnel on how to use and maintain developed applications and procedures.
• Provides remote and onsite troubleshooting using data and performance analysis of deployed applications.
Skills
• Programming ability (C# & Python strongly preferred).
• Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and other software architecture concepts.
• Knowledge of image processing algorithms (blob analysis, edge finding, morphology, feature extraction, classification, metrology).
• Data retrieval, plotting, and analysis.
• strong communication and presentation skills (MS Office programs).
Education
• BS degree required,
• Advanced degree preferred (Data Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, EE, ECE, or Optics).
