Metadata Analyst

Contract: 6 month contract
Working hours: 35 hours per week is full time. Where possible, we are open to considering part time/flexible working patterns. Please let us know in your application your desired working pattern.

Reporting to: Data Governance Manager

About Us:
The Financial Ombudsman Service is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that plays a vital role in UK financial services. Every day we help resolve disputes between consumers, or small businesses, and their financial service providers.
Playing a pivotal role in the effective management, governance and deployment of taxonomy and reference data across the organisation.
Ensuring the integrity, consistency and compliance of metadata and reference data standards by balancing technical detail with stakeholder liaison, process oversight and operational excellence.
Working with the chief data office to translate business requirements into approved changes, coordinate deployments with minimal disruption, and drive continuous improvement in our metadata processes and tools.
What You'll Do:
Serving as the primary point of contact for taxonomy and reference data change requests
Facilitating sessions to capture business requirements and communicating metadata standards
Overseeing the governance process for taxonomy and reference data, including related mappings and audit trails
Monitoring compliance with data governance policies and escalating issues where needed
Maintaining data dictionaries, glossaries and metadata repositories in collaboration with colleagues
To be considered for this role, you'll need to show us that you've got the skills and capabilities. You'll have to meet the following minimum criteria:
Minimum Criteria (for secondment)
Familiarity with our product taxonomy and other casework reference data
Ability to adhere and apply data governance principles, metadata standards and reference data frameworks
Planning and prioritising multiple change requests with attention to detail and performing validation and post-implementation checks
Using Excel and other data tools to analyse datasets and produce clear reporting
Working with compliance and audit processes and maintaining accurate change records
Collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders and translating needs into actionable changes
Solving problems proactively and contributing to continuous improvement
Communicating complex information clearly in writing and verbally across teams and governance groups
Relevant knowledge of regulatory and organisational data policies and procedures
It would also be nice for you to have
Using metadata management tools (e.g. Collibra, Informatica or Alation) to maintain metadata assets
Experience working with Phoenix is desirable; but not essential
