Role description
Unison Systems is seeking a Metrics & Reporting Designer/Analyst to join our client's team in Denver, CO.
This is a 12-month hybrid contract position based in the Denver Tech Center, requiring 3 days per week in office. The pay rate is $90-$100 per hour, with an anticipated start in September 2026.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct discovery sessions with business stakeholders to understand measurement needs, pain points, and decision-making gaps
• Define KPIs, metrics, and dimensions that align with business performance and strategic objectives
• Design metric hierarchies, taxonomies, and balanced measurement frameworks ensuring consistency across the organization
• Establish clear metric definitions including calculation logic, data sources, refresh cadence, and ownership
• Write and execute SQL queries to explore data, validate metric logic, and confirm data availability and quality
• Design intuitive dashboards and reports that communicate insights to target audiences, selecting appropriate visualization types based on data and audience
• Create wireframes and mockups to align stakeholders on design before development begins
• Author Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and Technical Requirements Documents (TRDs) that clearly specify stakeholder needs and technical specifications
• Maintain a metrics catalog documenting definitions, owners, lineage, and business context
• Serve as the primary point of contact for development teams, clarifying requirements and providing feedback throughout the delivery lifecycle
• Validate completed work through user acceptance testing, confirming delivered metrics meet business requirements
• Present metric designs and dashboard concepts to stakeholders at all levels and support adoption through training
Requirements:
• 3+ years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, or BI/reporting
• Intermediate to advanced SQL proficiency, including complex queries with joins, aggregations, window functions, and CTEs
• Demonstrated experience gathering requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translating them into documented specifications
• Experience designing dashboards or reports in a BI tool such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or Qlik
• Strong analytical thinking with ability to frame ambiguous business problems as measurable outcomes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to tailor messaging to both executive and technical audiences
• Ability to create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, or equivalent
• Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas, facts, dimensions)
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments
• Proven attention to detail, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning
