Position Overview
Salt Lake County is seeking a Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer to design and deliver an end-to-end reporting and analytics solution using Azure Cosmos DB, Synapse Analytics, and Power BI.This role supports the Tax Administration agencies as the TORUS system goes live, providing critical data integration and reporting capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable, cost-effective analytics solutions leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, and Power BI.
Configure and manage Synapse Link for Cosmos DB for near real-time analytics.
Build and optimize data pipelines in Azure Data Factory (ADF) for ingestion, transformation, and loading of large datasets.
Develop and optimize T-SQL queries, views, and serverless SQL pools.
Build and maintain Power BI data models, DAX measures, and interactive dashboards.
Perform data cleansing and transformation using Power Query (M Language).
Optimize DAX and Synapse queries for performance and efficiency.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver technical reporting solutions.
Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across all reporting layers.
Required Skills & Experience
Azure Cosmos DB: 2–3 years (NoSQL API, complex JSON data).
Azure Synapse Analytics: 3–5 years (Synapse Link, T-SQL, analytical store).
Synapse Serverless SQL Pools: 3–5 years (advanced T-SQL development).
Azure Data Factory (ADF): 3–5 years (data pipelines, ETL, integration).
Power BI: 5+ years (DAX, Power Query, Data Modeling, Paginated Reports).
SQL: 5+ years (advanced querying and data manipulation).
Proven experience working collaboratively in cross-functional Agile teams.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Spark or Spark Pools (PySpark or other languages).
Familiarity with Git or Azure DevOps for source control.
Exposure to other cloud platforms (AWS or Google Cloud Platform).
Microsoft Certifications (Preferred):
PL-300: Azure Data Analyst Associate
DP-203: Azure Data Engineer Associate
Cosmos DB Developer Specialty
Desirable Qualifications
Experience handling large-scale datasets with optimized solutions for performance and cost.
Strong communication and presentation skills to convey technical insights to business stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage the full analytics project lifecycle, from architecture to deployment.
