Role description
• Design and build a Medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) within Fabric OneLake to ingest, cleanse, and curate investment portfolio data
• Develop and orchestrate data pipelines (Fabric Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2) to move data from custodians, portfolio accounting systems, and market data feeds into the Lakehouse
• Build and optimize Fabric Data Warehouse objects (star schema/dimensional models) to support reporting and analytics workloads
• Develop Spark notebooks (PySpark/Spark SQL) for transformation logic across bronze-to-gold layers
• Implement Delta Lake table design, partitioning, and performance optimization (V-Order, table maintenance)
• Build semantic models and connect Power BI reports using Direct Lake mode for near real-time portfolio reporting
• Automate recurring reporting workflows (performance, holdings, allocation, reconciliation reports) to reduce manual effort
• Implement data quality checks, validation rules, and reconciliation logic appropriate for financial data
• Apply data governance, lineage, and security controls (OneLake security, row-level security, Purview integration)
• Set up CI/CD for Fabric artifacts using Git integration and deployment pipelines (Dev/Test/Prod)
• Evaluate and apply AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot in Fabric, GitHub Copilot, LLM-based coding assistants) to accelerate pipeline, notebook, and semantic model development
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (or strong equivalent Azure Synapse/Power BI/Data Factory experience with a demonstrated Fabric transition)
• Proven experience designing and implementing Medallion architecture in a production environment
• Strong data warehouse design skills — dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, slowly changing
• dimensions
• Experience building and orchestrating data pipelines for structured and semi-structured data ingestion
• Proficiency in PySpark, Spark SQL, and/or T-SQL within a Fabric/Synapse environment
• Experience with Delta Lake table formats and lakehouse performance optimization
• Strong Power BI skills, including semantic model design and Direct Lake/Import mode tradeoffs
• Solid understanding of data governance, security, and access control in a regulated data environment
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Copilot in Fabric, or similar) as part of the software development lifecycle
1. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in Investment Management, Wealth Management, or broader Financial Services data domains
• Familiarity with portfolio accounting/custodial platforms as data sources (e.g., SS&C Black Diamond, Orion,
• Tamarac/Envestnet, Advyzon, Ridgeline, Charles River IMS)
• Experience integrating FactSet and MSCI Barra data feeds — security master, analytics, risk model factors, and performance/attribution data — into a cloud data platform
• Experience with investment data concepts: positions, holdings, performance/returns, transactions, security master, pricing, benchmarks
• Experience integrating custodian/broker data feeds (SFTP, API-based) into a cloud data platform
• Microsoft certifications (DP-600 Fabric Analytics Engineer, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with reconciliation and audit requirements typical of investment reporting
